1982-11 Half-cent Sales TaxRESOLUTION NO. 82-11
WHEREAS, the Florida Legislature in 1982 adopted House Bill 2-D, better
known as the half cent local sales tax, and
WHEREAS, the distribution formula contained in said House Bill is
inequitable in the overall distribution of sales tax dollars for local
governments, and
WHEREAS, the City of Daytona Beach Shores has prepared a distribution
formula using a combination of population, point of collection and property
evaluation for distribution of the half cent sales tax, and
WHEREAS, this distribution formula is much more equitable in the
allocation of these funds to local government,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
OKEECHOBEE, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
1. That the Florida League of Cities and the Okeechobee Legislative
delegation are hereby respectfully requested to seek a change in
the distribution formula of the half cent local sales tax in
accordance with the recommendations prepared by the City of
Daytona Beach Shores in order that the distribution of these sales
tax dollars may be received by local government on a more equitable
basis.
2. This resolution shall take effect upon its adoption.
