H.I Wiles, chairman of zoning/Ordinance and recommended its i~ediate ,adopt- ion. Attorney Durranc$ informed the Commission that it would have to be advertised for 15 days before it $ould be adopted. Upon motion Councilman Chandler moved that the Council meet in reSular adjourned session November 21 and that the proper proceed- ute be taken in advertising of the Zoning Ordinance, seconded bY Councilman Rhymes and carried. ~he Council Sesignated Mobley's Garage for city repairs during month of Nov. The matter o~ one-way traffic on First Street in South 0keechobee regulating the traffic around hig~ and elementary schools was discussed. Chief Thomas instructed to contact Patrol Boys!in permtting residents in that area to use said street. ~he Voluntee~ Firemen requested permission to open and drain fire hydrants. The Council granted pe~ssion provided they corporate with Water Superintendent. Harvey HamriSk appeared before the Council s~atingr that his Father had deeded property to the City o$ 0keechobee for the sole purpose of building a swimming pool and since the swimming poo~ had not been constructed requested that the deed to property returned to them. Ha~ey Hamrick offered to deed to the City that part of Hiwassee Street East of City Hall and thatpart of South Park Street South of City Hall. After discussion Councilman ~aandler moved to return the deed to the swimming pool property seconded by Councilman~i Gardner. Councilman Chandler moved that his preceeding motion be withdrawn and moved'~ that Hamrick present deeds to above mentioned streets and City would return deed to slZimming pool property, action to be taken at meeting to be held Nov. 21, seceded by Ceuncilman Harden and carried. A letter waslread from W. B. Sievers and ordered filed ~egarding a fi~e hazzard on property adjacent te his in South 0keechobe~e. Mayor Raulerson requested to take care of situation. Councilman ~dner presented the foll~ving Resolution and moved its adoption and upon being seonded~ by Councilman Rhymes was put to a vot~/and unanimously adopted~ RESOLUTION WHEREA~ William ~. Williams has made application to this Council to authorize the Tax Collector of the City of 0keechobee to cancel all city taxes ~retofore levied against property hereinafter described for the years 19~7 to 1941 inclusive for the reason that said lands were ex- cluded from ~he municipality by Chapter 10960, Laws of Florida, Acts of 1925, and, WHEREA~ said tax.~s which have been assessed for the years 1927 to 1941 inclusive c~nstit~te a cloud upon said property and this Council having give~ due consi,~eration to said application, NOW, ~0RE, B]~ IT RESOLVED that the City Tax Collector of the City of 0kee~obee be al~d he is hereby authorized and instructed to cancel all unpaid t~es and ta:~ certificates issued for the years 192~ to 1941 inclusive, o~ any of su.;h years, and make prope~ notation on the tax rolls of said city o clear t~e following described lands of said taxes: Lots 9, ~0, 11, an~t 12, Block D, 0keechobee Development Company ~ddition t¢~ 0keechobee, according to Plat Book 1 Page 6, ~ublic rec(?ds of 0keechmbee County, Florida. ATTES T: , November 21, 1955 The City Council of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, met in regular adjourned session at '7:~}0 P. M. on the above date at the Cit7 Hall ~ th the following present: Mayor H. H. R&ulerson, President Walker, Councilmen Chandler, Gardner, Harden and RhTmes with G, C Durrance, City Attorney o_nd Lorena Spivey, Cig7 Clerk. The Zoning Ordinance was the first business on the agenda to be discussed. A large delegation of citizens owning property on Pa~rott Avenue Were p~esent p~otesting the'zoning of Parrott Avenue from Fifth Avenue tO the South city limits to single family residences. Woodrow Walker presented a petition signed by a majority of property o~ners with property adjoining Parrott Avenue opposing the exclusion of commerical zoning along said highway. After a lenghty discussion and explaination of parts of zoning ordinance Councilman Chandler presented the following 0rdina~ce and moved its adoption.
