Kinsual to make a survey of the needed material for this extensio~and report to Council. It ~s reported that Leon Yetlding had requested a culvert at his residence. Due to the ci~ having no culvert at this time matter was tabled. May~ Raulerson stated that Bruce Lynes, Representative of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield ~surance Company, requested an opportunity to meet wit~ the Council for the purpose o~ discussing his insurance program for City employees The Council agreed · for Mayor Raul~rson to notify him that they would meet with him on October 18 at 7:00 P.M Car~ Hoffman, Com~nander of American LegionPost #64 with a delegation of Legion me~er~ appeared before the Council to discuss the insurance of Legion members who would be ~ting special police and who would be on duty at any time the Chief of Police needed ~xtra~ assistance. The Mayor advised that he had talked with the in- i 1 su~ance representative and was advised that Workmen's Compensation would cover them if they were employed ~y the City and legally authorized to act as policemen. After discussion Councilman ~h.~ndler. moved to pay the special appointed Legion members $1.00 Legion members were o~icially sworn in by Mayor Raulerson: Carl C. Hoffman, Charles T. Ha~t, ,Jr., Alto Wa~ord, ,.Ir., Sam 2homas, Henry Shaw and Le~Is Woodall. ,Johnie Boromei, Sylvester Ar~ld, ,J. R. Rhoden and Watson D'Agastinm were selected to act as assistants in the ~ent one of the above was unable to serve. Co,mncilman ~andler moved that the Clerk be advised to w~ite a letter to R. D. Hill, Division ~anager of FloridaPower and Light Company, requesting that a maintenance crew be l~ated in 0keechobee permanently. Pierce as to who they employ to repair the above named fire equipmente ~ne follow~g building applications were submitted and upon motion b7 Councilman Chandler, ~conded by CoUncilman Gardner and carried, permits were ordered issued to Alvin Sweat~ $1,000 and Ma~y P. Echols $16,000.00. Upon motio~ the Council adjourned to meet October 18, 1955. Mayor Raul~son stated that the purpose~ of the meeting was to inspect the 1055 Tax AsSessment R~ll as prepared by Dowl:l. ng Appraisal Company and presented by the Tax Assessor. 'After ~msp~tt$~.~and explanation by Dowllng Appraisal Co. as to how the assessments were comp~ted the Council deferred action until October 18, 1955.
