1.711R7AS, that portion of Central Florida from
Bradenton to Fort Pierce is rich in historical heritage,
and
711E,REAS, there has existed since approximately the
year 1550 an Fast/West trail used by the early settlers,
and
'?I'EPEAS, this trail has today evolved into a highway
system which is high and dry, but largely unmarked, and
i717REAS, a lasting tribute is fitting to honor the
route taken '_,y our forefathers in traversing the State,
TIIEREFORE, TIE IT RF SOLVED by the CITY OF
0P,EECI?O7EF, that it supports the effort to name those
portions of State Roads 64, 17, 66, 98 and 68 from
I�radenton to Fort Pierce the "Florida Cracker Trail".
BE IT FUPTHER RESOLVED that the CITY OF OKFFCI3OBEE,
requests the Department of Transportation to name those
portions of State Roads G4, 17, 66, 93 and 68 from
Bradenton to Fort Pierce the "Florida Cracker Trail"; and
to erect appropriate markers designating the trail and
further to designate the trail on the Official Florida
Transportation 'lap.
