• RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF HIGHWAY LANDSCAPING
MAINTENANCE MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE OF
FLORIDA. DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION AND PROVIDING FOR
AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the city council of the City of Okeechobee is very
concerned over the appearance of median islands, interchange areas
within the corporate limits of the City of Okeechobee; and
WHEREAS, the city council of the City of Okeechobee after
discussion with the Department of Transportation of the State of
Florida, believes that it can better perform the maintenance of the
landscaping in those areas; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Transportation of the State of
Florida, has agreed to provide funds in the amount of Ten Thousand
Dollars ($10,000.00) per year for a period of one (1) year for the
City of Okeechobee to maintain said landscaping; and
WHEREAS, the city council believes such an agreement to be in
the best interest of the citizens of the City of Okeechobee.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved that the city council of the
City of Okeechobee, does hereby authorize the Mayor to execute an
agreement entitled "Highway Landscaping Maintenance Memorandum of
Agreement" between the City of Okeechobee and the Florida
Department of Transportation, agreeing to maintain the landscaping
in median islands, interchange areas and rights-of-way described
in said Agreement in exchange for the payment of $10, 000.00 payable
$2,500.00 per quarter for a period of one (1) year.
This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its
passage.
PASSED by the city council of the City of Okeechobee, Florida,
in regular session assembled this 1st day of August 1989.
