After discussion the Council decided i to leave it to the diOr.rich of 't~he employees as to whether they were interest=~n subscribing fc~ the l=~urance. , A discussiozi was heard on the ~equeste~ street closing in Block 184 by Joe ' Bengiovanni, action de~ex-red. !: Picking up t~he Untagge~ dogs was discussed.' Councilman Chandler moved to set twenty-five cents per day as fee for feeding impounded dogs, seconded by Councilman Harden and carried. 1~ was agreed that Leon Williams would wamk on hisoa~mployed hours at an h~u~ly rate to ~ck ut0 the dogs. ! Attorney ~ ~C ej stated that he and JuSt® ga~lton were to go to Tallahassee [ the last week in June ~n reference to the suit with Han~ick and requested that the City pay their e~pens,~. Councilman Harden moved to pay the expenses seconded by i Ceunotlman Chamell~ az~ ea~ried. ~ W. Water Dept. advised to investigate situate and report distance and approximate cost. Williams was assu~ed that the Council would corporate in any way possible. R. L- Dowling of the Dowling Appraisal Company in Bradenton was present and discussed with ~he Council a complete A~raisal and Assessment of city p~Operty. After discussion the Council felt it would be an asset to the City therefore agreed to meet with the 0keecP~obee County Bank with reference to financi~ such a project. Action deferred until meeting of .June 21. Bids ~n the advertised vehicle were opened, read and considered. Due to am error in the a~vertisement on the bid of the trade in t~uck being am 8 cylinder instead of 6 cylinder. The Council agreed to notify Gilbert Chev. Co. of the error and request that their bid be revised. Claude Holcomb of the 0keechobee Motor Company being present stated that he was aware of the situation and had submitted his bid for trade in allow- ance on a 6 cy~nder. Action deferred until meeting of June 21. Vaca~ons for city employees were discussed. Councilman Chandler moved to grant city empress that had been employed by the city one year or more a two weeks paid vacation ~ if the employee desired not to take a vacation they would be g~ante~ two weeks extr~ pay, seconde~ by Councilman Harden and carried. A leper was ~ead from the Or~:mmer Company with reference to the sale ~f [ '~ $15,000 I & S .P~ funding Bonds at 88 and accrued interest. No action taken ow matter. Mayor Raulerso= requested to contact Thomas M. Cook and .Company relating/the price of bonds at preset. Am application from C. D. Harden requesting the city repairs work for a month was read. The ~ouncil designated C. D. Harden as garage for city repairs during the month of Jume~ The ~llowing building applications were submitted ~_ud upon motion by Council- man Chaudle~, ~conded by Councilman ~ and carried same were &~ee~e~ and permits - ordered issued:~ R. E. Willis $800, Mrs. Dolly Thomas $~,000, C. C. Cate $~,000, L. H. Dreese $1,000, ~olmam Hare SI,$00 and Edwin Lamb $~,000. Coun~lman Harden brought before the Council the need of several street lights in Colored Town. After discussion Councilm,_n Harden moved to authorize the im~ retaliation of f~ur street lights to be installs d in Colored Town at the following designated plaCSs: Cermet of Fifteehth St. & T~scaloosa Et., Corner of Fifteenth St. & Chokaloskee ~. and two adSttional lights a block apart on Chokaloskee St. North of Fifteenth St. s$conded by Councilman Chand_le r and cax~ied. ~he Clerk instructe~ te notify the FloOds Power and Light Company of action. i~ ! Di,c~sion on a proposed sewer =and sewer tap fee was heard. No a.tion taken° A re,est from the 0keechobee County Children's Co, tree for $~00 to conduc~ the summer recreation program was discusse~. Due to the fact that only $1§0 was entere~ in the 1~88 Budget the Council was unable to donate the requested $~00 at this time. Lamb and Alto Watford, Jr. were present --~ - ~- ~-~=~_t and r~resented the businesses on State Road 441 that would be affected by the no t~uck pa~kin~ zone. After discussion Councilman Chandle~ moved to rescind m6tiom in June ?, 1955 ~nutes relating to this matter and moved to block Woman's 01ub area upon ~equest and ~o place signs between North corner of Inter Co Tel and Tel ¢o. building to traffic light, seconded by Councilman Rhymes and cam[ ed. Councilman H~den ~iscussed the garbage pickups. Several places were reported to have no garbage confiners. A list of such places to be prepared and persons to be notified that garbage ~ontainers must be obtained. Also the garbage situation at the 0keechobee Trails r ParM discussed. 0ouncilman ChandleV moved to notify Cou~t owner to have all garbage conta~ers located in one place, seconded by Councilman Rhymes and oax~ied. R. L. Dowlin~ of D°Wling Appraisal Company was ~ esent regarding the reappraisal of City Tax Roll. May~ Raulerson reported that financing of the project could be obtained from the bank* ~he Council felt tha~ this reappraisal would be very beneficial to the City and upon m~ion by Councilman Chandler, seconded by Councilman Harden and unanimously carried it Was agreed ~o employ Dowling Appraisal Compan~ for reappraisal of %it propert at a of $1,v5o.oo.
