1992-13 Safe Blood SupplyRESOLUTION NO. 92-13 A RESOLUTION ADOPTED BY THE CITY OF OKEECHOBEE, FLORIDA, • SUPPORTING THE ESTABLISHMENT OF AN ECONOMICAL AND SAFE SUPPLY OF BLOOD AND BLOOD PRODUCTS FOR THE CITIZENS OF OKEECHOBEE, FLORIDA; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City has been informed that the local hospital, HCA Raulerson, is considering a change in blood suppliers from the Palm Beach Blood Bank, to another facility located in Orlando, Florida, and WHEREAS, the City Council seeks to ensure that the Citizens of Okeechobee are provided with economical, yet safe and readily available supplies of blood and blood products, as being in the best interests of health, safety and welfare, and WHEREAS, the City does not seek nor intend to interfere with the sound decisions of local business' which concern the operation of such a business, it is therefore: RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, recognizes that the Palm Beach Blood Bank has served the Okeechobee area for many years, and has many loyal donors in this area who have expressed their concern about the hospital changing suppliers. Further, the Council urges that prior to making such a change, that HCA Raulerson fully investigate and evaluate any such facility or supplier with whom they intend to do business, including the Palm Beach Blood Bank, to assure the citizens of Okeechobee of a continued economical, stable, and safe supply of blood and blood products.
