The Council discussed the matter relating te First Street in South 0keechebee
and decided to contact the State Read Dept. Engineer and find out their requirement ef
number of feet. Matter passed for further consideration.

C~ilman Harden reported en matter of repairs of city equipment at Knight
Service Statics and due te the repair shop not being in operation Gilber~ Chev. Ce.
was designated Cer repairs of city equipment during the month of Ma~ch.
The ~tter of the crossing for A. R. Rebertson was discussed and it was
stated that MaWr Raulerson had w~itten to the State Road Dept. Division Emgineer at
Ft. Lauderdale regarding the situation but to date had had ne reply.

beautification ~f parks. Council referred matter to Supt. Williams.

also for pex, mi$ion te tap sewer at same location. Upon motion by Councilman Gardner,

It as reported to the Council that street lights on North Park Street were
out of order. ~lerk instructed to notify Fla. Power and Light Co.
~e matter of a license for American Legion sponsored Carnival was discussed.
The Council ag~ed to abide by Ordinance ~e. 248 governing sane. The Council agreed
that if the American Legions desired to sponsor a fair with rides, exhibits and no
gambling that ~ey would go along with them in that line. ~he ~uestien of the amotu~t
o~ license tha~ would be required if the Legion decided to purchase e. quipment for rides
and have them ~atione~y on. Legion grounds was discussed. T~e Council was in one accord
that they ~ul~ be willing to forego license for such. The Legions requested a
statement as t~ what shows and concession would be allowed operated at carnival, so
that they woul~ know before a contract was signed with any carnival.
Attorney Du~rance reported on Ordinance Ne. 214 relating to Curfew Law.
The d~g situation was again discussed. The Clerk was instructed te 'w~ite .a
letter to the P~a~e Society in West Palm Beach for information regarding disposal of
impounded dogs,
Nat~ Zelmenovitz reported that the Seaboard Air Line Railway Co. had agreed
to give a flag ~top in 0keechobee for points North of Tallahassee or beyond Columbia,
S. C. on the S~ver Meter and requested the Council to dismiss plans for adoption of
Ordinance reg~ting~ train speed within city. ~he Council. feeling that the matter had
been worked ou~ in a satisfaotory manner dismissed plans for adopting Ordinance.
Audle~ Dunh~ appeared ~efore the Council stating that the ~oman,s Club and
O.~d~ Club or~tzatlons had chosen as their project beautlftcag'lon of the grounds of
the civic buil~ngs and had decided to begin their project at the .City Hall if the
Council would ~rpora~e in this matter. Counc~ lmaw Gardner moved tha~ they proceed with
plans, sec~n~e~ by Councilman Chandle~ an~ carried. Leon WilliAms was instructed to
give necessary ~ssis~ance in matter.
Au~ti Allen requested ~ha~ ~ou~h g~ree~ be opene~ to give him access ~o his

Ronn~ Watts requested the opening~ of 0th Street in Woodland Pa~k Subdivision,
so that he wou~ have access to his property. A discussion followed and due go the fao~

Original Dedic~ors the Council did wot know Just what steps could be taken therefore
they requested Attorney Du~rance to contact the owners and see what could be worked

A request from Leon Yeilding stating the need of dirt fill on road North of
High School building. Councilman Rhymes moved to grant request and instructed Supt.
Williams to attend to Same, seconded by Councilman Gardner and carried.
Supt. Williams reported the need of culvert. Council agreed to place order
for 80 - 4 foot Joints of 12# concrete culvert.
Mayor Rauler$on stated the condition of parks. Matter referred to Councilman
Chandler, Chairman of pa~ks Committee.
Councilman Cllandler reported a complaint of trash being blown f~om the garbage
truck en~oute te city ~. The Council agreed to clean up shoudlers of road and ditches
and place order for ta~aulin..
Mayor Rau]e r~on reported that a needed rifle had been purchased for the Police
Department. Councilman Gardner moved, seconded by Co. Chand2or and carried te 0. K.
purchase cf rifle, sam~ to be property of the Police Department and to be carried in
Police co~. Also Mayo~ Raulerson stated the need of an extra policeman, but being awa~e
of fino~uoes he requested permission to employ a special police on week~ ends to help
~eli&ve Chief Thomas. The Council agreed for this te be done.

adoption and upon bein8 seconded by Councilman Harden was put to a vote and adopted:.

WHEREAS, Rile~ Tomlinson has made application to this Council to authorize
the Tax Collector of the City of 0keechobee to cancel all city taxes heretofore
levied against the property hereinafter described for the years 1927 to 1941
inclusive for the ~eason that said lands were excluded from the municipality
by Chapter 1096Os ~aws of Florida, Acts of 1928, and WHEREAS said taxes which
had been assessed ifor the years of 1927 te 1941 inclusive constitute a cloud
upon s&id propert~ and this Council having given due consideration to~ said
applicati on,
NOW, ~fERE~0~E, BE IT RESOLVED that tho City Tax Collector of the City of
Okeechobee be and ~he is hereby authorized and instructed to cancel all unpaid

East 0keechobe$, East of Taylor Creek be closed. After discussion Councilman Rhymes
moved to close said street, seconded by Councilmaa Gardner and castled. Attorney

C. ~ Hawk appeared before the Council requesting that Tallahassee Street
from Eleventh Street ge Eight Street be opened to enable him to obtain passage to his

It wis stated that F~ank Ca~ver had requested a culvert at his residence.

Smith & Hills of Jacksonville, relating to a natural gas line survey. After discussion
and upon recommendatio~ of Attorney, Councilman Gardner moved to accept proposal of
natural gal line cent ct submitted by Reynolds, Smith & Hills .and to remit fee of $1.00
for survey, seconded b~ Councilman Harden and c'a~ried.
The subject ~f the erection of a community recreation center being sponsored
by the Liens Club was ~iscussed and the Council agreed to oorporate with the Lions Club
im the proposed pla,ns as far as legally possible.
Repairs on tl~e police car' was discussed. The 'Council decided that it would
be to the City's best advantage to purchase a new car and the Clerk wasinstructed te
advertise for bids on ~he following:
