1996-03 Postpone Strategic Policy PlanRESOLUTION 96-03
• A RESOLUTION BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
OKEECHOBEE, FLORIDA; RESOLVING TO REQUEST THE CENTRAL
FLORIDA REGIONAL PLANNING COUNCIL TO POSTPONE ACTION
UPON THE STRATEGIC REGIONAL POLICY PLAN.
WHEREAS, the Central Regional Planing Council has for sometime been preparing
a Strategic Regional Policy Plan, "the Plan" for the region; and
WHEREAS, extensive review by the City of Okeechobee and other local
governments in the region have led to the conclusion that the Plan as currently written
does not adequately address the concerns raised by each local government; and
WHEREAS, the City of Okeechobee has resolved to work with its sister cities and
other local governments to provide constructive input to the Central Florida Regional
Planning Council prior to a final vote on the Plan; and
WHEREAS, a vote on the Plan by the Regional Planning Council has been
scheduled for Wednesday, August 7, 1996.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council, of the City of
Okeechobee, Florida:
1. THAT the City Council of the City of Okeechobee, Florida hereby requests
the Central Florida Regional Planning Council withhold voting to transmit the
Plan to Tallahassee at its meeting on August 7, 1996.
2. THAT the Central Florida Regional Planning Council be requested to instruct
its staff to meet with the planning staffs of the five member counties in an
effort to seek a consensus on the outstanding issues contained in the Plan.
