2001-10 Withdrawal from PRMA RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF OKEECHOBEE FLORIDA TO
ANNOUNCE WITHDRAWAL FROM A CONTRACTUAL
RELATIONSHIP WITH PUBLIC RISK MANAGEMENT (PRM);
WHICH CONTRACT PROVIDES FOR RISK MANAGEMENT AND
SELF INSURANCE ASSOCIATION; PROVIDING FOR NOTICE
THEREOF TO BE PROVIDED TO THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF
PRM; PROVIDING FOR WITHDRAWAL FROM THE POOL FOR
THE FISCAL YEAR EFFECTIVE OCTOBER 1, 2002 TO
SEPTEMBER 30, 2003; PROVIDING FOR ACTUAL NOTICE OF
WITHDRAWAL TO THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR NO LATER THAN
AUGUST 15, 2002; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Okeechobee, Florida entered into a contractual relationship with Public
Risk Management (hereafter PRM) for the provision of risk management services, and the
formation of a self- insurance pool of members, to provide insurance coverage for the City;
and
WHEREAS, the City of Okeechobee, Florida has determined that it is in the best interests of the
City and its citizens to withdraw from PRM and the pool and seek such services
competitively from other providers; and
WHEREAS, the by -laws for PRM, Section 4.2 thereof sets out the manner and timing of
withdrawal of a member from the pool, which this resolution will accomplish;
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City of Okeechobee, Florida as follows:
Section One: THAT pursuant to Section 4.2 of the by -laws of PRM, formed pursuant to Florida
Statutes 768.28(15)(a); 440.57; and 163.01, the City of Okeechobee, Florida announces its
withdrawal from PRM for the fiscal year commencing October 1, 2002.
Section Two: THAT this Resolution, once adopted, shall be furnished to the executive director
of PRM prior to October 1, 2001.
Section Three: THAT the City of Okeechobee, Florida, shall further, prior to August 15, 2002,
provide to the Executive Director of PRM by FAX, US Mail, or hand delivery, verification and
written notice that the City actually intends to withdraw from the pool at the end of the October
1, 2001 September 30, 2002 Fiscal Year.
Section Four: THAT this Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and
approval by the City Council for the City of Okeechobee, Florida.
