2002-15 CDBG GrantRESOLUTION NO. 02 -15 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE FILING OF THE CITY OF OKEECHOBEE'S FISCAL YEAR 2003 FLORIDA SMALL CITIES COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT COMMERCIAL REVITALIZATION APPLICATION WITH THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY AFFAIRS, COMMITMENT TO PROVIDE ENGINEERING SERVICES, AND DESIGNATION OF SIGNATURE AUTHORITY WHEREAS, the Florida Legislature, during the 1983 legislature session, enacted the Florida Small Cities Community Development Block Grant Program Act, Florida Statutes, Chapter 290, to accept and administer the Community Development Block Grant Program created by Title 1 of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, as amended; and WHEREAS, the purpose of the Florida Statutes, Chapter 290, is to assist local governments in carrying out effective community development activities to arrest and reverse community decline and restore community vitality; and WHEREAS, Florida Statutes, Chapter 290, designates the Florida Department of Community Affairs as the administering agency for the Florida Small Cities Community Development Block Grant Program; and WHEREAS, it is the intent of the City of Okeechobee to apply for Fiscal Year 2003 Florida Small Cities Community Development Block Grant funding in the Commercial Revitalization category and to provide all engineering related services required for the project utilizing the City Engineer; and WHEREAS, the City's Fiscal Year 2003 Florida Small Cities Community Development Block Grant Application reflects the community development needs of the City. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF OKEECHOBEE, FLORIDA authorizes the Mayor and /or Mayor Pro Tempore to execute and submit to the Florida Department of Community Affairs the City's proposal in the Commercial Revitalization category for Fiscal Year 2003 Florida Small Cities Community Development Block Grant Application; RESOLVED, FURTHER, that the City Administrator is authorized to act in connection with the Application and to provide such additional information as may be required by the Florida Department of Community Affairs for the application and throughout the entire grant process, once awarded; and RESOLVED, FURTHER, that this Resolution shall become effective immediately upon adoption.
