The Okeechobee County Planning Commission met in regular session Tuesday, January 8, 1991 at 7:30 p.m. in the County Commission Meeting Room, Okeechobee County Courthouse, 304 N.W. 2nd. Street, Okeechobee, Florida. Dan Delagall acting Chairman presided with Jerry Bryant, Chris Hooker, Brenda O'Connor and Frank Mareocci in attendance. Chairman Frank Williamson was absent and Vice Chairman Roger Jones resigned. Also present were County Attorney John Cassels, Zoning Administrator Martin O'Shea and Secretary Linda Turner. Representatives from the Okeechobee News and Palm Beach Post were present. Acting Chairman Dan Delagallasked for a motion on the December 11th. minutes. They stated that they wanted to open a day care center. The property is located on the comer ofS.W. 19th. Street and S.W. 2nd. Avenue. They presented a site plan. Mr. Frazier stated that the property was previously zoned commercial. There were no comments and no letters. Martin O'Shea stated that he recommends approval. Jerry Bryant stated that commercial I has -1- been used as a buffer between commercial n and. residential. Jerry Bryant made a motion to recommend approval. Seconded by Brenda O'Connor. The motion carried unanimously. PETITION #341-S. GARY & DEBORAH FRAZIER. CHILD CARE CENTER. Mr. & Mrs. Frazier presented the petition. Acting Chairman Dan Delaga1lasked Martin O'Shea for the regulations governing day care centers. Mr. O'Shea replied that the county ordinance does not have any regulations governing this. He stated that he would recommend fencing, sufficient play area and landscaping. Also the building use would change and the necessary inspections would be required. Staff recommends approva1. The applicants stated that the parking would be addressed as soon as they found out how many children they could have any how many employees would be required. There were no comments and no letters. Applicants stated that at this time they plan to operate only in the daytime. Dan Delaga1lstated that he did not want to restrict them to daylight operation only, there may be a need for a 24hr. day care center in the near future. Jerry Bryant made a motion to lZl"ant with the condition that only 1 commercial business at a time be run from this location. Seconded by Brenda O'Connor. The motion carried unanimously.
