Shepperd, with a blue print for a $10,000, six unit Motel, to be built on Block 76, on Parrott Avenue. After discussing matter Councilman Thomas moved to grant said permit, seconded by Councilman Roe and carried. Clerk was instructed to issue permit. E. H. Barry discussed driver's license law in the City. Council instructed Attorney Durrance to check into laws governing d~iver's license. Marvin Moble$ pointed out the urgent need for road patching material· Council- man Coker moved to pu~ehase one car load of said material, seconded by Councilman Thomas and carried. The need for two additional street lights was discussed· One to be located on co~ner of Kissiwwnee Street and Ninth Street, and one to be located on Hicopochee Street and Third Street. Thomas moved to have these street lights installed, seconded by 0ounoi man Coker and carried. Clerk was instructed to write letter to the Florida Power and Light~ Company authorizing the installation.of these lights. Willie Faison (colored) appeared with five other colored persons, from Colored Town and requested that the City install a water line to colored town, that would take care of more water connections, as there were a number of people wanting to have water installed. Council discussed matter and instructed Councilman Roe to contact Supt. Kinsaul and work out the matter. Upon motion the Council adjourned. (Wallace & Tiernan Co) l$.l§ M~s. G. J. Holmes, representing the Wilson Life Insurance Company was present and discussed with the Council insuring the city employees unde~ a group plan. Mms. Holmes agreed to contact each employee regarding matter. 0tin Lee presented plans for a $10,000 home to be located on Twelfth Street and Kissimmee Street, Block 76 in the name of James A. Young, Sr. and requested the Council to issue a building permit for same. After disuussion Councilman Watford moved t° accep~ plans and grant permit, seconded by Councilman Coker and carried. The Clerk was instFucted to issue pex~mit. The above also requested a water line and cul- vert to this p~operty. The Council agreed to have this matter ta;~en 'ca~e of. T. H. Nix, in behalf of the Baptist Church, requested permission to use ex- cess ditch bank dirt from west side of town for a ill at the church grounds. Council agreed for this to be done. Dalton Brett and Elliott Lott, representing the Chamber of Commerce, discuss- ed with the Council a proposed plan of the Cha_mber of Commerce to erect street markers. The City was requested to finance the purchase of the markers and the members of the Chamber of Commerce would paint and erect said markers. ~The Council felt this to be a worthy cause and upon motion by Councilman Warlord, seconded by Councilman Roe and carried, agreed to begin the program by pumchasing 20 concrete markers at present and to purchase additional ones in the future. The need of repairs to the tennis court was discussed and Councilman Warlord moved to have ~he court repaired and expense not to exceed $50.00, seconded by Council- man Coker and carried. The ~epresentatives from the Chamber of Commerce also discussed the plans for a yatch basin at Taylo~'s C~eek East of the City Hall. A question as to the own- ers of the adJcingln property was discussed and Attorney Dumrance was instructed to investigate matter. Co~plaints was heamd as to the remains of a ~llding belonging to Clyde Thompson which was destroyed by fire some time ago. Due to the approaching hurricane season this was deemed a hazzard and the Clerk was instructed to notify Thompson by letter requesting him to remove balance of structure within 30 days. Chief Thomas discussed the situation of the City Officials not being per- mitted to make arrest of persons having no driver's license. Attorney Durrance read the State Law governing this matter. A discussion on the complaints from residents near the DriveIn Theatre and Sta~is Drive In was heard. The Clerk was instructed to notify each place of business of the conplaints and request them to operate their businesses in a quieter manner. Plans were submitted for a $1,000 building to be erected by E. K. McCoy located in Browning's Addition, East 0keechobee.
