The City Council of the City of 0keechobee, Florida, met in regular session
at the City Hall at 7:30 P. M. on the above date with the following present: Mayor
H. H. Raulerson~ President Chandler, Councilmen Coker, Roe, Thomas and Watford with
G. C. Du~rance, City Attorney and Lorena Spivey, City Clerk.
Minutes of the meeting held May 4, 1953, were read and approved as read.

Davis Meter Rep. & Supply Co. - .Water Dept. .-- 264.68
Mrs. Ntwray Fulford, Chairman of Children's Recreation Committee, appeared
and stated that they were planning to have the summer recreation program again this
year and requesSed a donation for this purpose. Councilman Watford moved that the
City donate $300.00 in two payments toward this program, seconded by Council~nan Roe
and carried.
Sam Thomas appeared before the Council requesting that the City install water
line so that he might obtain water connections at his property located Lots 9 and 10,
Block 106. Thomas stated that in the near future several of the property owners were
expecting to build in that vicinity and would want water connections. After discussion
the matter was ~eferred to Councilman Rpe, Chairman ~15 Water Committee and Wate~ Supt.
Kinsaul.
Deliquent water bills were discussed and the Council agreed uaanimously that
Water Supt. Kin~aul be instructed to cut off on the 16th of each month all water con-
sumers with unpaid water bills.
Clyde Hancock discussed with the Council the need of cleaning a drainage
ditch in Each 0keechobee adjoining his property. The Council advised Supt. Mobley to
have matter take~ care of.
~M~te~ance '.of the~ ~a~ks and requests for mowing the football field and
~oman'~ Club pre was discussed. Matte~ referred to Councilman Coker, Chairma~

of the Parks Committee.
Connie Raulerson, PresidAnt of the Chamber of Commerce and 0tin Lee, Director,
appeared before the Council stating that the Chamber of Commerce were planning to
build and office and ~equested permission from the City to build said building on Pa~k
R, East of Parrott Avenue. Councilman Roe moved to grant request, seconded by Council-
man Watford and unanimously carried.
The matter of vacations for the City employees was discussed, and upon
motion by Councilman Coker, sec~onded by Councilman Watford and carried the employee's
of the Wa~er,Dept., Smpt. of St. & San. Dept., Fire Chief, Clerk and Clerk's Assistant
and Police Dept. were granted a two. weeks paid vacation.
The matter of Building P~mits was brought before the Council and discussed.
Councilman Coker moved that a notice be published in the 0keechobee News - effective
immediately - that all builders must make application for Building Permit w~ th City
Clerk and said ~plication must be approved by Council before issuance of permit,
seconded by CouncilmamWatfc~d and carrt ed.
Request was received from Joe Bongiovanni regarding the transfer of Package
store license from Lot 1, Block 161 to Lot 9, Block 159. Mater tabled.
The Council approved amendment of agreement with K. L. Sharp.
Councilman Watford ~moved to transfer funds from Swimming Pool Fund to the
General Fund of the City of 0keechobee, seconded by Councilman Roe and unanimously
ca, ri ed.
Representative Zelmenovitz discussed with the Council the proposed Mental
Institution. President Chandler appointed Councilman Thomas as Chairman of Committee
to represent the City CoUncil in this matter.-
Upon motion the Council adjourned.
June 24, 1953
The City Council of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, met in special session
at the City Hall on the above date at 10:00 A. M. with the following present:
President Chandler, Councilmen Coker, Roe, Thomas and Watford with Lorena Spivey,
City Clerk.
The purpose of the meeting was to consider building perm~it applications
for the follo~ng: Mrs. Veda T. Fulwider, F~ed T. Wilson, Chamber of Commerce, Irena
l~illiams and Mrs. Alto Watford, Sr. After careful examination of the applications, ..~
Councilman Watfor~ moved to accept said applications and the Clerk was authorized to
issue building permits to the above applicants, seconded by Councilman Thomas a~d
unanimously carried.
A prospective B~milding Inspector was ~discussed and matter tabled until
regular meeting of C~ur~il.
A Building and Zoning Code for the City of 0keechobee was also discussed
