The City Ceumcil of the City of 0keechobee, Florida, met in regular session
at the Cit~y Hall en the ab,ye date at 7:50 P. M. with the following present: Mayor H.
Raulerson, President ~andler, Councilmen Coker, Roe, Thomas and Warlord with G. c.
Durrance, City Attorney and Lorena Spivey, City Clerk.

Representatives ef the Woman's Club were ~ esent and requested pen~ssiom te

Co~cilm~ Watford moved te grant request, seconded by Councilman Ceker and carried.
Rev. E. Jonel, Paster ef Methodist ~urch, appeared in regard te the Cocktail
Ledge License issued to ~e S~uthl~d Hotel. Rev. Jones state~ that ~e distaace ha~
beem remeasu~ed and fo~d to be only 7~ feet from ~ch te H=tel and aamco this was
net im accordance with Ordinance No. 256 requested that the licemse be reveke~. Rev. W.
Replogle, Pastor ef the Bt.thorn ~ch, also was pr.seat and e~resse~ his 'opimiem
matter. Attorney ~rranee stated that he had had ~o ~eply te the letter that wis writte~
to the Beverage Department. A petitio~,~si~ed by a a~be~ ~f citizens, e~ressing re-
gret that ~e City Ce~cil had issue~ an additional ba~ license was presemte~ ~d read.

James V. Dykes appea~ed in reg~da to ~e nusiance caxxsed by s~ blowimg

to de any street paving but assured Dykes that relief in this matter would be given as
soon as pessible.
Mrs. Mabel Hull appeared in regards to the smeke from Boree's Saw Mill. The
Council agreed for Supt. Mebley te contact Mr. Lightsey in regards te this matter. Mrs.
Hull also stated the need if dirt fill om culvert leading to her home. Supt. Mobley was
instructed te ~lse attend this matter.
Rev. W. Replogle stated the need ef signs in church zones te slew traffic. The
Council agreed te purchase three signs and place on Parrett Avenue.
A letter was read by Councilmen Roe, from L. C. Bates, Supt. of Seaboard Air
Line Railway Cempamy, requesting that the City abolish the proposed Ordinance regulating
train speed within the city limits and proposed the following agreement if the Council
deemed fit te meet request.
"Summer season the Silver Star will make conditional steps for
Jacksenville and beyond. During the winter season the same
traim will make conditional steps for Columbia, S. C. and be-
yond. Said train will also make conditional stops for West
Palm Beach and Miami."
After discussion Coumcilman Watford moved to rescind proposed Ordinance pre-
taining to governing speed of Seaboard Air Line Railway trains, seconded by Councilman
Coker and unanimously carried.
The Council discussed cleaning ef Markham Brothers drainage ditch and agreed
that it would be more beneficial extended to the lake.

Supt. Mebley reported on his investigation ef the street leading te Mrs. Melb~'
Louthan's preperty located ~n Vicker's Woodland Parks Subdivision. He stated two culvert~
and street grading would be necessary. The Council agreed t~ take care of needs as seen
as pos sible.
Attorney Durra~ce reported on the proposed sewer matter and stated he wished
tc make further investigation on subject.
Mayer Raulersen discussed his talk with Gilbert W. Clifford, Engineer, in re-
gards te the City's recent proposed sewer program.
Councilman Ceker stated that R. Boremei had discussed with him his intentions
of erecting several new buildings on his property adjoining Ninth Street and requested that
the Street be graded and repaired. The Ceumcil agreed to have this done as seen as
possible.
~--A Maye~ Raulerson repe~ted that J~hn T. Pickett, Engineer, had surveye~ the new
location for the swimming peel and that the plans had been sent te the State Board ef
Health for approval of the new location. The Council discussed the new proposed site for
the peel and ~se the first proposed site and it was agreed that the site of the "Old
~ Folks Home Property~ was best suitable and less hazzardous. Mayor Raulerson was instruct-
ed to notify Pickett to prepare data on bids and that the locatiom was te be on the "Old
F~lks Home Property" and to contact At.~orney Durrance for further developments.
Ccunctlma~ Coker stated that the County Commissioners had agreed te employ
J~hn T. Pickett, Engineer at $1,000.00 te make survey in regards te the Flood Control
Pregram, providing the City agreed t~ paY t800.O0 cf cost. After discussion Councilman
Coker moved that the city provide in their I~§A Budget $800.00 for their share of the

~ECTION TWO: Tha~ ~ec~ion 10 of ~dinance No. 1~8 of ~he city of 0kee-
chobee, Florida, be and ~he same is hereby ~ended so as ~o read as
follows:
"No License under ~he provision of ~hls ~dinance, shall be granted
a vendor to sell, bar,er or exchange or o~herwise deal in Beer, Wine or
o~her Intoxicating Liquors of any kind or nature, regardless of name,
whose place of business shall be within S~N ~R~ ~ of any
established church or school, which said distance shall be measured by

~CTION T~: Ail ~dinances or parts of ~dinances in conflic~
