Temporary Chairman Roe opened the meeting stating that nominations were in
order for the eleetion of President for the City Council. Councilman Warlord moved to

Mrs. G. E. Bryant, Jr., Member of the Garden Club, appeared before the Council
and requested that the City emPleya full time park attendant. After discussion the
Council agreed to employ a full time park attendant. This matter fas referred to.
Councilmal Ceker, Chai~mal ef Pa~ks Cen~mittee.
Mrs. R. B. Meserve, President of 0keechobee Garden Club/requested that signs
be posted along Flagler park area, particular in front of the A & P Stere and Okeechobee
County Bank, te prohibit cars from parking on the grass. She 'als· requested that the
City place signs on highway and streets to prevent persons riding in automobiles from
throwing bottles, cans and trash in the ditches and on road shoulders. Various types ef
signs were d~scussed amd CHief Thomas stated that the metal signs were needed in some
places. The Council assured Mrs. Meserve this matter would have attentiom.
C. R. Belk suggested that the City place some kind ef cover,.em the garbage
trucks te prevent ~-ubbish from blowing off trucks. The Council agreed to leek imte the
matter.
G. E. Bryant, Jr., representing the Southland Hotel and Grill, which was
deavoring ~o precure aa Exceptional Cocktail Le~uage License, appeared and diacusse~ the
matter and offered a proposed Ordinance ~er the Council's censideratiom. Atterney
Durrance related t~e law governing this matter. A discussion of the distance from the
Methodist Church and Seven Day Advent Churc~ was heard. Chief Thomas was requested te
measure the distance from the Southland Hotel to both churches. Upon his returm he re-
petted that te the bes~ of his knowledge both Churches were over 1,000 feet from the
-~euthland Hotel but due te the water on the streets it was impessible te measure various
parts of the area accurately. Councilman ~hemas moved te adept the preposed Ordinance,
~eti~a seconded by Ceu~cilman Coker, the follewimg vote was taken, YEA - Ceuncilmam
Ceker, Thomas and Watferd, Councilman Roe net voting.

SECTION ONE= That Ordinance number 2~A, of the City ef Okeechobee,
is hereby repealed and Seetiom ten e~ Ordinance number 18~ ef the
City of Okeec~ bee, Florida, is hereby amended so as te read as fellows:
