The City Council of bhe City of Okeechobee, Florida, met in regular session
at the City Hall o n the above date at ?:50 P. M. with the following present: Mayor

Kenneth Holcomb and Kathryn Sweatt appeared before the Council in regards, to
drainage prob%e~ and presented a petition from proper~ owners on 5th Street and adjoin-
ing proper~owners. T~e situation was discussed pro and con and the Council assured
~he petitioners that ~hey-w~uld do everything possible to releive ~he flooded situation.
Dalton' Brette discussed ~i th the Council the drainage problem. ~-~
Councilman Williams presented the following Ordinance and moved its adoption,

LICENSE AND OTHER TAXES; PROVIDING FOR THE PAYMENT AND

BE IT 0RDAI~UED BY T4~E MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF 0KEECHOBEE, FLORIDA:
~ SECTION ONE~ Any person, fire or corpoPation engaging
in any business or professi, on enumerated aaa/or na~ed in
section five of ordinance lo. 185 of the City of Okeechobee,
Florida, shall pay a License Tax-in a sum twenty-five (25)
pex, cent greater tha~ that na~ed in said Section Five (5) of
said Ordinance No. 188, City of Okeechobee, Floridae
SECTION T~O: Any person, firm or co~poration violating
and of the provisions of Section One of this Ordinance, shall
be punished as provided in Ordinance 188, of the City of
Okeeckobee, Flerida.
SECTION T~REE: Ail Ordinances in conflict with the pro-
visions of this Ordinance, are hereby repealed.
SECTION FOUR: This Ordinanee is hereby .declared to be a~
E~ergency Ordinance, necessary for the proper financing and
welfare of the said city of Okeechobee, Florida.

~me garbage disposal situateon was again brought before the Council. Supte
Mobley stated t~at due to the heavy rains it was becoming impossible to get in and out
of th® present aumpin~ grounds. After discussing the Council agreed to make different
arrangements fo~ the dumping.
Mr. ~ohn T. Piekett , Engineer presented the plans for the Swimming Pool.
After the plane~ were reveiwed and explained in detail, Councilman Williams moved to
approve said plans, seconded by Councilman Roe and carmied. ~he plane were to be sent
to the State Board of Health for their approval.~/The~ possibility of employing
Mr. Pickett as a city engineer was discussed and agreed by the Council that it would
be very benifiolal- to the City to have a full time enginee~ employed. No definite action
taken on matte~.
The whiteway light being out of order was discussed and it was agreed to have
Albert E~ell check them.
A discussiom on the city e~ployees obtaining purchase tickets for purchases
was heard
necessary/but no definite attica taken on matter.
A statement f~om D~. E. F. Dudley was presented and discussed and tabled for
further investigation.
A tappage fee ffo~ the sewers was discussed but no definte ~tion taken at this
time.

Attorney ~rmance read a reply to a letter ~itte~ to the ~rustees of Internal
Improvement regarding Lot 52 Block 202, City of Okeechobee, stating that they would deed
to the City of 0keechobee the above lot for a no~nal fee ~f $~.0~. Co~ci~ Roe moved
to send $~.00 to the State of Florida for said deed, seconded by Co~cilma~ ~omas
carried.
Frank Wllliamson appeared before t~e Council in regards to leasing land to the
City for garbage disposal g~ounds. M~. Williamson agreed to lease to the City approximate
10 acres East of highwa2 441,. adjoining property of Dave Coker at $1.00 per year for 5
years subject to release. Councilman Roe moved to accept the offer and Attorney Durrance
instructed to prepare lease, seconded by Councilman Thomas and ca, tied.
~ A Wire From John T. Pickett, Engineer, was read by Mayor Raulerson, stating that
the Swimming Pool plans had been approved locally and had been forwarded to the State
for approval.
