1951-05-07 Regular 293 Water Supt. Kinsaul brought before the Council the matter of a water line break n property belonging to Blosvein in the Southwes~ section of town, which had cost the Citya considerable amount of money for repair. Due to the fact, that Belcher 0il Company was doing the work for Blosvein, the Council suggested that the. 0ill of repair be sent to them. Kinsaul e4pressed his appreciation to the Council for making it possible for him to attend the short course in Gainesville. Counc-~lman Williams stated that a street in East 0keechobee was in very bad condition after discussion the Council agreed to have street repaired at once to make it passable for the home owners. The sewer problem was discussed. A letter from S. H. Mc Dougald was read in regard to the effect the sewer situation has on the 0keechobee County Bank sanitary facilities. After discussion it was agreed that the Mayor contact A. B. Jackson, State Board of Health Inspector regarding situation. Councilman Roe brought before the Council the need of safety precautions for motorist and pedestrians within our city. After discussion Councilman Roe moved to purchase 50 gallons of yellow paint to be used to ~aint street markers and signs, s~e~ond~ by Councilman Watford and carried. Also Councilman Roe moved to purchase three caution lights to be placed at three dangerous intersections, seconded by Councilman Watford and carried. Discussed also was the matter of establishing a five minute parking zone in the vicinity of the post office. A compliant of trucks parking on Parrott Avenue and.~ leaving their motors running was discussed. Financing of the new police car was discussed, councilman Roe moved to financ, the car through the 0keechobee County Bank, seconded b~ Councilman Watford and carried. Mr. Tellfare reccommended t~at the City employ an engineer to make a survey of a se'~'~er project. Allen and Roscoe Markham were present and stated that they '~:~aid agree to pay half the cost of making the survey. Mr. ?allfare presented the Council with a list of qualified engineers and Councilman Williams moved that the Clerk contact a number of them regarding their fee for making such a survey, seconded by Couhcilman lHomas and carried. Ammon Mc Clellan brought before the council again the need of having the deep holes in back of the old Florida East Coast Railway Station filled in. This ~atter was brought before the Council sometime ago and the ~wme~ of the property was notified of the hazzard and was requested to fill in the holes but to this date no action has been taken. '~'he matter was referred to the Attorney and he was asked to contact t he owner again. Marvin Mobley requested that the Council purchase a motor .. for the sewer equipment that was recently purchased by the City. Matter tabled. Councilman Thomas reported complaints of c~rs speeding in the South Section of town, and requested the Mayor to notify the Chief of Police of this matter. were read Letters/from $. H. Counc requested that Mr. Mc Dougald be notified that the matter was being given attention. Resolutions from the Parent Teachers Association and Chamber of Commerce were read and tabled for further consideration. , The Council agreed to issue Building Permit to ~he Church of God exempt from any fee for the building of a parsonage. Councilman Thomas moved to appoint President Chandler as Building Inspector for t he City of 0keechobee~ Seconded by Councilman Williams and carried. Upom motion the Council adjourned.
