'City Clerk ......... February 5, 1951 The City Council of the City of 0keechobee, Florida, met in regular session at 7:30 P. M. at the City Hall on the above date with the following present: Mayor H. H. Raulerson, President Chandler, Councilmen Roe, Thomas, Watford and Williams with G. C. Durrance, City Attorney and Lorena Pearce, City Clerk. Mayor Raulerson administered the oath of office to Councilman Williams. Minutes of the meeting held Jan. 2, 1951 were read and approved and r cad. Stello - Insurance ................. ---- -- - - - 812.51 Thomas Nix and Nathan Zelmenovitz, representing the Chamber of Commerce, appeared before the Council requesting cooperation in adopting Resolution ~or Ordinance prohibiting canvassing withi~ the City of 0keec~obee. Attorney Durrance stated that it would be illegal for the city to adopt any s~ch Resolution .or.Ordinance. The matter of a license for Peddlers was also discussed. Councilman Roe moved that the City Attorney prepare Ordinance on Peddlers operating within the City of Okeec_~bee, and,present at the next regular meet].ng of the Council, seconded by Counm~lman Watford and carried. W. B. Solvers appeared before the Council in regard to a culvert in front of his home on Parrott Avenue. President Chandler suggested tha~-Councilman Warlord and himself meet with mr. Mathers, Representive of State Road Department~, and come t o some decision regarding this culvert. State Representive W. J. Hendry appeared before the coUncil and stated that he was ready to cooperate with any projects the Council would pass upon. Re-~Registration for the City voters was discussed with Mr. Hendry. Councilman Watford moved that the Attorney prepare Resolution and necessar~y data for Legislation requesting that the City require all voters to re-register before the next city election, seconded by Councilman Thomas and carried. Councilman Watford moved to purchase 200 feet of 2~" and 180 feet of IL" f~re hose, seconded by Councilman Thomas and carried. Mr. J. T. Clamp, of Belcher 0il Company, met with the coUncil and discussed the street improvement project. Ahe Board of County Commissioners and city Council had met ~reviously and the Commissioners agreed to ~ay half of the cost up to $30,000 for street improvement. The CoUncil authorized advertisement for bids to be run in local newspa~per this week. ~ The need of a police car was discussed. Councilman Williams, Seconded by Councilman Roe and carried moved to trade in police car for 1981 Ford Special Built Police car. Attorney Du~rance suggested that the Council purchase for the Clerk"s Office 19~9 Laws of Florida. Councilman Warlord moved to purchase the suggested beck, seconded by CoUncilman Williams and carried. CoUncilman Williams brought before the Council for discussion the water tan~ agreement presented by K. L. Sharp, Jan. 10, 1950. '-Councilman Watford moved to accept the agreement, seconded by Councilman 'Ahomas and caPried. Deliquent water bills discussed. CounciI agreed $o have notices printed and deliver in person to each deliquent water consumer one of these notices. A discussioh on refUnding 0kee. Hdwe.
