(Granting the telephone Compan2 easement on alley) and upon being seconded by
Councilma~ Walker was put to a vote and unanimously adopted. The Representative
of Telephone Company also requested permission to erect a tower on their property.
Councilman Chandler moved to grant permissiom after all specifications have been
complied with, seconded by Councilman Walker and carried.
Only one bid was received for laying 1250 feet of 6 inch-water line to pro-
posed school mite on Osceola Street, said bid was from Lee Engineering and Construction
Company in the a~ount of $4,856.50. W. W. Bruce, respresentative of above Company
was present discussing with the Council the bid. Councilman Walker moved to accept
bid from the Lee Engineering Construction Company in the amount of $4,856.50 with
Councilman Walker moved to purchase 12 - 20' lenghts of 12" uncoated cul-
vert, seconded by Coumcilman Cha~ dler and carriede
~arlisle Thomas, Sr. Building Inspector, reported that in the past 11 months
he had issued $~87,150.00 in building permitse
A request was read from Clyde Hancock to have lots 1, 2 and ? to 16 inc.
Block 5?, Original Tovm of Okeechobee re-zoned to commercial. Matter referred to
Zoning Commissioner for investigation.
The Council agreed to advertize in Classified Ads in the Okeechobee News
for a white driver for garbage truck. Applications to be considered on March 4, 1958
at ?:00 P. M.
George Reynolds, Director of ~hamber of Commerce, discussed plans for
development of Sport Marina on lake front.
Councilman Walker moved to adopt Ordinance on Garbage rates, seconded by
Councilman CHandler and carried.
Councilman GardLner moved to publish a notice in the Okeechobee News statim~
that anyone found setting fire to weeds or burning off lots without permission from
Fire Department will be assessed a fine of ~ot less than $25.00, seconded by 'Council-
man Pearce and carriede

matter of re-zoming the new school site was discussed and referred to Zoning Commissione~ --~
Carlisle Thomas for investigation.
T. T. Coleman diseussed with the city deeding to him a part of Tallahassee
Street that dead en~is between Block 229 First Addition to the City of 0keechobee and
Block H C~ntral Park Subd. Action postponed to next meeting.
M. F. Kinsaul discussed with the Council a request for a larger water line
on 12th Street West of Parrott Avenue and to Melba Louthan's property in Vicker's
Woodland Park. After discussion Councilman Chandler moved to purchase 1500 feet of
2" pipe seconded by Councilman Walker and earried. Also discussed was a letter
Roscoe Markha~ regarding a water bill and 2" gate valve. The Clerk instructed to
write a letter to Mr. Markham regarding this matter.
Applications for driver of garbage truck were considered. J. R. Walters
appeared before the Council and discussed the matter of taking over the garbage
business. After a lenghtly discussion the Council agreed to meet on March 11 to
discuss this matter further with Mr. Walters. Applications were tabled and ordered
filed until said meeting.
Several owners of Trailer Parks were present discussing the matter of
trailers being parked all over town and requested the city to require all trailers to
park in licensed trailer parks. ~ne Council agreed to instruct the Adjustment Board
to investigate this matter and make a report at the meeting to be held March 11.
A plat of "Taylor Creek Manor" was presented for approval but action was
postponed until Mrs. Wa~d could be contacted.
Councilman Pearce moved that the city employees be advised not to purchase item,s
of a personal mature until it has been presented to ~e Council, seconded by Councilman
CbandJer and carried.

The City Council of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, met in regular adJourne~
session on the above date at V:O0 P. M. at the City Hall with the following present:
Mayor Dunham, President Watford, Councilmen Chandler, Gardner, Pearce and Walker with
G. C. Durrance, City Attorney and Lorena Spivey, City Clerk.
Two applications for rezoning were receive~ and upon motion by Councilman
Chandler, seconde~ by Councilman Pearce and carried to advertise notice for'rezoning
the following described property from Residential and Industrial to Commercial and
Public Building:
Lots 1, 2, 7 to 16 inc., Block 37, Oridingal Town of Okeechobee$
and All of Block 197, except Lot 11, in the Town of Okeechobee,
according to Plat thereof, filed in Plat Book 2, Page 17, Public
Records of St Lucie County, Florida, ALSO that portion of the
abandoned F. E. C. railroad right of way, and those parts of
North Curve Street and South Curve Street, lying between the
East side of Okeechobee Avenue and Wes% side. of Osceila Street,
all b eing in the City of Okeechobee, aforesaid. Said lands com-
prising a part of Section 21, Townshi~ 37 South, Range 35 East.
Clyde Hancock and several residents fron the area North of Seaboard Airline
Railway were present requesting that the City allot street lights for that section.
The Council advised that they were working on a street lighting ~roJect and that they
woul~ be given consideration. Also they requested that 16th Street be opended on both
sides of 441 for irainage purposes. Matter referred to Leon Williams.
Frank H. Platt, Veterinarian, discussed with the Council vaccinating the
dogs in April, Ordinances on matter discussed and the Council agree~ for Mr. Platt
to obtain ~ro~osed Ordinance published by the State Board of Health and it woul~ be
considered at the next regular meeting of the Council at which time they would set a
vaccination date.
Councilman Chandler moved to accept the Plat of "Taylor Creek Manor" secondel
by Councilman Gardner and carried~ with the understanding that the building restrictions
be complied with.
President Watfor4 reported that the C. A. A. had grante~ the City permission
to use the pits near the air~ort for a garbage dum~ ~roviding that it be ke~t sanitary.
J'. R. Walters appea~eA before the Council regarding the garbage business
presenting a substitute contract. After discussion the Council advised Walters that
they would post,one action until next regular meeting at which time he should submit
detailed contract.
