1951-01-02 Incoming - Reg January 2, 1981 The incoming City Council of the City of 0keechobee, Florida, met in regular session at the City Hall at $:00 P. M. on the above date with the. following present: Councilman R. E. Chandler, J. M. Roe, Sr., B. Wi Thomas, Alto Warlord, Sr. wi~h Lorena Pearce, City 0terk. It being in order the oath of office was administered to Mayor Raulerson by G. C. Durrance, Notary Public, afterwhich Mayor Raulem on administered.the oath of office to Councilmen, Chandler, Roe, Thomas and Warlord, Clerk, Lorena Pearce and Chief of Police C. A. Thomas. R. E. Chandler was chosen as .temporary chairmam and opened the meeting stating that nominations were in order for the election of a President of 'the City Council. Councilman Watford nominated R. E. Chandler. There being no further nominations Council- man Chandler was declared elected President. president Chandler stated that nominations were in. order for a President Pro- ?em. Councilman Watford nominated Councilman Thomas. There being~no further nomination~ Councilman 'Ai~omas wa~ declared elected President Pro-Tem. ~ .Councilman Warlord moved to reappoint all city employees now employed by the city. ~his includes: City Attorney, Fire Chief, Water Superintendent, Supervisor of Street and Sanitary Dept. and Clerical Assistant. Council~Roe moved that the Council transact business' as usual regardless of the abSence of a Council member. Seconded by Councilman 7homes and carried. Councilman Warlord presented the following Resolution and moved its adoption, and upon being seconded by Councilman Roe and carried, was put to a vote and unanimously aa~pted, /~, RESOLUTION BE IT RESOLVED BY 7~E CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF 0KEECHOBEE, FLORIDA: 1. That ~HS' 0KEECH 0BEE NEWS be, and i s hereby now declared, the official newspaper to publish .any and all legal notices or other advertisements the City may. be required by law or otherwise to publish during the year 1951. 2. That the City Clerk be, and is hereby ordered and instructed to comply with the order of this Council and place all legal advertisements at the minimul legal rate in The 0keechobee News until January 1982, provided, however, that the 0keechobee News shall remain a newspaper in which legal notices and processes may be published, according to law. ~. That a quorum of this Council is now present and has heard the reading of this resolution. K. E. Stello, appeared in regard to the City Insurance for 1951. Discussion on Collision Insurance for Police car and policy on fire truck was heard. ~atter tabled on fire truck policy. K. L. Sharp of Orlando, Fla. was present and discussed with the Council the Maintenance Contract that was offered the City when the repairs to the water tank was completed in 1980. Councilman Warlord moved to table matter until next meeting, sec- conded by Councilman Roe and carried.
