1950-11-06 Regular 277 October 51, 1950 of the City of 0keechobee, Florida, The City Council/met in special session at the City Hall at 9:00 A. m. on the above date with the following present: Mayor H. H. Raulerson, President Chandler, Councilmen Martin, Nix and Watford with Lorena Pearce, City' Clerk. Mayor Raulerson stated that the purpose of the meeting was to appoint the Election 0ffioals. One Clerk and three Inspectors for Elction to be held December 5, 1950. T~e y were as follows: W. N. Gray, Clerk Mrs. Jesse Wilson, Inspector Mrs. Lucllle Walker, Inspector Mrs. Mabel Hull, Inspector Th~ above named persons to receive $10.O0 for services. Upo~ motion the Council adJ,ourned. ATYEST:~ November 6. 1950 The City Council of the City of 0keechobee, Florida, met in regular session at the City Hall at 7:50 P. M. on the above date with the following present: Mayor H. H. Raulerson, Councilmen Martin, Mc Dougald, Nix and Watford with G. C. Durrance, City Attorney and Lorena Pearce, City Clerk. In the absence of President Chandler, President Pro-Tem Martin presided over the meeting. Minutes of the meeting held October 2 were read and approved as read. E. Hamrick, appeared before the Council and Pecuested the City's help in obtaining deeds to this property from Mr. Hamrick as per his agreement in the meeting of the City Council held March 8, 1948. After discussion Councilman Warlord moved that the Clerk write to Mr. Hamrick regarding this matter. Seconded by Councilman Martin and carried. Persons with interest in t his matter are: Alice Bass, A~stin Pearce, John H. Wynn, L. H. Dreese, Mrs. E. E. Raiford and R. C. Evans. 278 ,representing the American Legion Johnnie Borome~/reported to the Council that the American Legion was not sponsoring the dance that is to be held at the skating rink November 11. Due to the agreement with Mr. Lee in the Minutes of the meeting held October 9, 1950, Mr. Boromei felt that the change should be reported. After discussion Councilman Martin moved that the matter stand as is until Mr. Lee is contacted. Seconded by Councilman Nix and carried· Ammon Mc Clellan appeared before the Council requesting information as to whether or not the hazzardous holes behind the old F. E. C. Railroad had been filled in. The Clerk reported that a letter had been written to Florida Commission Company in care It was agreed by the Council of Ray R~lerson regarding this matter but had had no reply./ It was also reported that to write another letter regardin~ this situation· a hole in front of Alto's Hotel was vex~y dangerous. Also reported was a hole in back of Wright Pump Company. Councilman Martin moved that the Clerk write to Mr. Wright request! that the hole be filled in or fenced so that no child or animal could get in. Seconded by Councilman Warlord and carried· Fire Chief Hancock discussed with the Council installing Clearance Lights in front of fire station drive. Councilman Mc Dougald moved to install the lights if the wiring and conduit cost would not exceed $25.00, seconded by Councilman Watford and carried· W. I. Holt, Jr. representing Belcher 0il Company, reported that details on the cost of the road repair would be sent in by letter. The Council agreed to have special meeting as soon as the letter is re6eived. Mr. Holt representing the American Legion requested a refund on the Club Room Liquor License· The Council agreed that they were unable to grant this requelt. Councilman Mc Dougald moved that the City donate to the American Legion $125.00 for the purpose of equiping one hospital room in the Louisianna Raulersom Hospital, seconded by Councilman Warlord and carried. Ammon Mc Clellan discussed with the Council the Kissimme~gkeechobee Boat-a-~adl Mr. Mc Clellan requested that the City donate $25.00 to help defPgy the coatof this occassion if needed. Ceuncilman Mc Dougald moved that the City donate $25.00 for this purpose if needed, seconded by Councilman Warlord and carried. Lorena Pearce, City Tax Assessor, presented the City Tax Assessment Roll for the year 1950 as completed by her to the Cit~ Council for examination by the Council. Councilman Martin reported that he had had several complaints of a shack that had been erected in the Southwest addition of the City and that person living in shack had no sanitary facilities. The Council requested that the Mayor have the Chief of Police look into the matter. A letter from C. R. Bibb was read by the Clerk and ordered filed. The matter of the drive way in front of the Fire Station door was discussed. The Council requested that the Clerk write a letter to the State Road Department in care of Fran~ Davis, Project Engineer, requesting that the drive way be extended to door and not according to existing plans. The above matter was moved by Councilman Warlord, seconded by Councilman Mc Dougald and carried. Councilman Watford moved that the Clerk order a new Registration Book, second. by Councilman Martin and carried. Councilman Watford moved that all petitions be accepted, seconded by Councilman Nix and carried. and carried Upon motion by Councilman Nix seconded by Councilman Warlord/the names of M. L. Mobley and Nathalie Mobley were ordered placed back on the City Registration Book. Councilman Nix moved that the stricken names from the City Registration Book~t !~ be published in the Okeechobee News and to include in the publication a notice that anyone having been stricken through error may have their name restored to the Registrati .n Book by appearing before the City Council at 5:50 P.
