1958-02-04 Regular544 February 4, 1958 The City Council of the City of 0keechobee, Florida, met in regular session at the City Hall on the above date at 7:00 P. M. with the following present: Mayor Dunham, President Watford, Councilmen Chandler, Gardner, Pearce and Walker with G. C. Durrance, 'City Attorney and Lorena Spivey, City Clerk. Minutes of the meetings held January 7 and 14, 1958, were read and approved as read. Raulerson 6.95 Bennie's Auto Supply .... 3.53 City of Fort Pierce ............. 254.25 Standard 0il Company ........ 154.82 Bids for the purchase of gas and oil were received from Pure 0il Compamy at 33~ regular gas off tank wagon price or 25.3~ per gallon, Super Duty Purelube Motor 0il at $1.05 per gallon, Puritan Motor 0il at 79~ per gallon, ,~ Standard 0il Company gas at 22.6~ per gallon, oil as per Rider C attached to bid. After discussion Councilman Pearce moved to accept the bid as offered by the Standard 0il Company, seconded by Councilman ~h~dler and carried. .__~ Mr. Crays, District Manager of Inter Co. Tel and Tel Co. appeared before the Council discussing the proposed improvements to their ~operty in the City, stating their need for use of the alley north of building and requested that the City grant an easement on s aid alley so that it could be paved for their use as a driveway. Mr. trays also stated that in the event the city had to repair water lime or sewer line im alley that it ~uld be of mo cost to city to repai~ pavement. 540 After discussion Councilman Chandler presented a Resolution and moved its adoption (Granting the telephone Compan2 easement on alley) and upon being seconded by Councilma~ Walker was put to a vote and unanimously adopted. The Representative of Telephone Company also requested permission to erect a tower on their property. Councilman Chandler moved to grant permission after all specifications have been complied with, seconded by Councilman Walker and carried. 0nly one bid was received for laying 1250 feet of 6 inch-water line to pro- posed school site on 0sceola S~reet, said bid was from Lee Engineering and Constx'uction Company in the a~ount of $4,836.50. W. W. Bruce, respresentative of above Company was present discussing with the 'Coumcil the bid. ~ouncilmal Walker moved to accept bid from the Lee Engineering Const~uctiol Company in the amount of $4,836.50 with the city fumnishing~re~o'~mance Bond, seconded by Councilman Gardner a~d carried. Councilman Walker moved to pumchase 12 - 20t lenghts of 12" u~coated cul- vert~ seconded by Councilmal Ch~ dler and carried, Carlisle Thomas, Sr. Building Inspector, reported that il the past 11 molths he had issued $~87,150.00 in building permits, A request was read from Clyde Ha~cock to have lots 1, 2 and 7 to 16 ilo. Block ~7, Original Tow~ of Okeechobee re-zoned to commercial. Matter referred to Zoning Commissioler for investigation. The Co,moil agreed to advertize in Classified Ads in the 0keechobee News for a white driver for garbage truck. Applications to be considered ol Mamch ~, 1958 at 7:00 P. M. George Reynolds, Director of ~hamber of Commerce, discussed plans for develo~melt of S.port Marina om lake Councilman Walker moved to adopt Ordinance ol Garbage rates, seconded by Councilmal ~handler amd carried.
