E. B~yant in behalf of the American Legion appeared and presented Petition For abandc~:~cr~[ ?i~ }[t~,assee Street between South Park Street and Seventh Street. Co- uncilman Martin moved to abandon said Street when R. E. Ha~ick has deeded the old Florida East Coast Railroad Right of way to the American Legion. Seconded by Co, cji- man nix snd caPri ed. Marvin ~ob!sy brought before the Council the need of patch material for the City Streets. A discussion followed but no action taken. Fire Chief Hancock appeared and requested an increase in salary to be effectf'~e at present or when new budget is prepared. The Uo~cil agreed that the sal~y was low and agreed to consideF and increase when new budget is adopted. Chief Hancoc~ stated that the Volunteer F~e Dep~tmen~ was planning to build a hose rack and shelter fo~ the O1d fire truck a~'id asked if the city wo~d share the expense of building and if so the shelter could be made large enoch to store otker City equipment. It was suggested that the Fire Co~ittee and V. F. D. Co~ittee work togethe~ in drawing plans and sec~ing estimated cost and present at next ~egulaP meeting of the Co~cil for considePati on. ~e matter of a second coat of paint for the City Hall was discussed~,afte~- which Co~cilman Martin moved that the second coat of paint be ~e~n seconded by Co~cilman Mc Dougald ~d carried. Co~cilman Mc Dougald bro-~t before ~e Co~cil complaitns of several busines menthat were being affected by the dust from the construction of Road No. 70. The Co~cil agreed that the street should be kept d~p and if this could be done it would 271 the dust. Councilman Martin moved that a letter be written to Belc~-e r 0il Company requesting the above suggestion. Seconded by Councilman Mc Dougald and carried. Councilman Nix brought before the Counci~ a very unsanitary condition on Kissim~nee Street near his residence. After discussion the Council agreed to request the ~ayor to instruct the Chief of Police to contact the tennants as to the matter and have them correct same. A proposed Ordinance for compulsory garbage service pre- sented by Councilman Nix sometime ago was discussed. It was agreed to table matter until ~'~onday, August 21, 19S0, at which time the Council would meet Eot further discussion. Cotu~cilman Nix moved that Donald Mack employed temporarily to fill and emergency c~use ~as to be under the supervision of Marvin Mobley. Seconded by Council- man Martin and carried. ~e~ A discussion as to property^Lots 7 and 8 Block~159, belonging to Joe Bongiovanni was heard. It was stated that he had made no attempt to clean up the ~roperty since the sale of the salvaged material at which time he was given thirty days to clear the.property of all rubbish. Councilman Nix n]oved t~.a t Joe Bongiovanni be notified by letter that the 30 days had expired and that~he was being given 10 addt days from date of letter to.domplete clean up or be brought before the Mayor in Mayor's Court. Seconded be Councilman Martin and carried.
