The Clerk wes requested to write to Florida League of Municipalites for information on buildi~ codes. Attorney Durance stated that a blue print, of hospital streets was necessary before the street paving liens could be issued. President Chandler stated that he would contact Mr. Pri~ regarding this matter. Alsa Mr. Price will be consulted in regard to drawing up m building code for the city. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE I~A¥OR AND ~HE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OKEECHOBEE, FLORIDA: Section 1. The commission of any act by an individual, organization or corporation or the keeping, maintaining, propagation, existence or permission ~f any- thing by an individual, c~poration or organization by which the health or life of an individual, 6r the health or lives of individuals may be impaired, or by which or through which, directly or inderctly, disease may be caused, is hereby declared to be a nusisance. Section 2. Whoever shall erect, establish, construct or maintain, own or lea~e any building, booth, tent or place which tends to annoy, impair or ink, ute the health of the community, or become manifestly injurious te the morals or manners of the p~ople or which shall be frequented by the classes of peple mentioned in Section 856.02 Compiled General Laws of Florida, 1941, or any house or place of prostitution, assignation, lewdness, or place er building where games of chance are engaged in violation of the ordinances of the City of 0keechobee, Florida, shall be de~med guilty of maintaining a muisance. Section 3. Filth, cesspools, offal garbage, foul water, dye-water, refuse from manufactories, stable manure, decayed animal or vegetable matter, or ot~er offensive substance detrimental te the health, thrown, placed or allowed to 2,16 ~emain in or upon any private premises, street, avenue, alley, side~lk, gutter, public reservation or open lot within the cerp~ate limits of the City of 0keechobee, Fleridm, are here~ declared nuisances ~nJu~ious to health. ~ectien 4. BE I~ ORDAINED BY THE ~AYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF O~ECHOBEE, FLOE[ DA: :Section 1. Any bona fide permanent resident elector of t~ City of 0keechobee who served as an office~ er enlisted m~n in the United States army, navy or marine corp. du~Jr~ the !World War between April 6, 1917 and November 11, 1918, o~ in the Spanish American War between April 21, 1896. and Suly 4,i 1902, or World War "Two", and who was honorably dfsct~ged from the service of the United States, and who at the time of his application for license as hereinafter mentioned shall be disabled from performing manual labor, shall upon sufficient inde~ification and p~ooof of being a permanent resident elector 217 i ~n the State and producation of an honorable discharge from the service of the Un, ted States during World War l, the Spanish-American War, or World War 2~ ~e granted a i license to engage in any business or occupation in the City of 0keechobee, Florida, which may be carried on main- ly through the personal efforts of the lecensee as a means of livelihood, and shall be entitled to an exemption to the extent of $50.00 on any license to engage in any bus- iness or occupation in the City of 0keechobee, Florida. The exemption heretofore referred to shall extend te and include the right of the licensee to operate an automobile for hire of not exceeding five passenger capacity, in- cluding the driver, when it ~shall be made to appear that such automobile is bona fide owned, or contracted te be purchased by the licensee, and is being operated by him as a means of livelihood, and the proper license tag for the operation of such mobor vehicle for private use has been applied for and attached to said motor veh~6le and the proper fees therefor paid by the ltcensee~ !--- Section 2. The City Tax Collector of the City of .. 0keechobee shall issue to such person or persons as may be entitled hereunder a license in pursucance to the fore- going provisions and subject to conditions thereof, and such license when issued shall be marked across the face thereof "World War-One*Veteran,s License," or "World War- Two-Veteran's License" or "Spanish-American Veteran's $ License" -- "Not transferable", ss the case may be, pro- vided that before issuing the same, proof shall be duly made in each case that the applicant is entitled under the conditions of this ordinance to receive the exemption herein provided for, which proof may be made by exhibiting . a certificate of government rated disability to an extent per of twenty-five/cent, or an affidavit or testimony of a reputable physician who personally khows the applicant and who makes oath that the applicant is disabled from performing manual labor as a means of livelihood. i ~-' Section 5. All licenses issued under this Ordinance . shall be in the same general form, and shall expire ~t the same time as other municipal licenses are fixed by law to expire. Section ~.
