The tappage fee fo~ making se~vf, ce connections shsll be as follows: For each new connection using 3/4" ~ipe shall be in the s~m of $25.00; ~en using 1" Pipe, the s~ of $40.00; - ~en using 2" pipe, the s~ of $75.00. R~erson May or Councilman Martin reported that he had contacted Mr. Pitts re6arding the park- ing situation at the So~thland Hotel and that he would cooperate with the City in every possible way to correct~hazzard. It was reported that the Chief of Police had gone to Jacksonville to get the police c~r. Signs for &ll city owned vehicles were discussed and it was agree~ by the Council to have each department vehicles including two street and sanitar~y trucks, water department ~ruck and police e~ signs painted. Mayor Rau~rson was re~uested to be in charge of this matter a~d to have It4done if the cost was reasonable. Dr. A. P. BlaCk and Prof. Eubaugh appeared in behalf of ~h$ir bill with';the,? City of 0keechobee. ~f~er an extended discussion Councilman Mc Dougald moved that the Ci'y pay the bill in the amoant of $1,200.00 in payments of $200.00 per month for six months. Motion seconded by Councilman Watford. Voting yes - Chandler, Mc Dougald and Watford. Voting No - Martin and Nix. W. J. Hendry ~iscussed with the Council Legislative matter that might be of importance ~o the City. He agreed to meet with the Councf~ at an early date for f,~rther discussion. Roger L. JoneS, Supt of Public Instruction, aopeared before the Council in ~ · ~re~6rd to the excessive water bill at elementary school building. After discussion Councilman Nc Dougald m~ved that the Council adjust bill from $63.25 to $31.50. Motion seconded by Councilman lartin and carried. Mr. Jones stated that the leak was being repaired. R. C. Evans requested that the City declare an alley in back of his property. He was advised that the property was owned by a private owner and the City had no power to make alley. The matter of deliquent water bills was discussed and it was agreed that any consumer whoes water bill was two months deliquent to instr~sct the Water Supt. to dis- contlnme water at once and per the agreement passed by the Council on August ~, 1948. Councilman Nci~%Dougald reported that culverts on 10th Street were needed. The tCouncil agreed to put i~V necessary ones. ? A Resolution ~rom the Board of County Commissioners reagarding the t~ca~i-~Gn a Convict Camp in Okeechobee was read. TTpon motion Councilman Nartin requested the City Attorney to draw up necessary Resolution for the City Councils adoption. Notion seconded by COunc~l~an Nix and ~arried. The need. of repair on the hose dry rack was discussed and it was agreed that Councilman Mc Dougald be in charge of having the necessary repairs made. The garbage problems were discussed but no ~efinte action taken. A fee for volunteer firemen services was discussed, matter ~as tabled for further discussion. March 21, 1949 The City Council ~$f the City of Okeechobee, Florida, met in regular ad,~ourned session at the City Hall at 7:30 P. M. on the above date with the following present: Mayor H. H. Raulerson, President Pro-Tern Ns~?tin, Councilman ~c Dougald, Nix and Watford, with Durrance, City Attorney and Lorena ?earce, City Clerk. Prosident Pro-Tem Martin presided at the meeting due to the absence of Pres- ident Chand] ~. A. W. Davis requested a building permit for a shed the approximately cost to be $1.~0.00. Councilman V~atford moved that the permit be granted. Motion sedonded by Councilm~n ~lc Doug~ld and carried. C. H. Parkerson appeared before the Council w~th a blue print of proposed light project from Southland Hotel to ~eaboard Railroad as req~ested by Council. The project would cost approximately $190.00 for 6 lights. After discussion the Council for agreed d~e to fioanclal reasons to table matter/further discussion. Lights on Osceola Street were ~scussed b~t no definite action was taken. The Clerk was instructed to order street light globes. R. E. Hamrick appeared and asked if the City had an industrial rate on water. He was advised that ther~ was no such rate in ex~stance at this t i~e. S. H. Mc Dougald appeared in behalf of the hospital board and ~tscussed the possibility of the City issuing Street Paving Liens to pave certain street leading to and around the hospital. The County Commissioners had agreed to buy Certificates in the amount of $3,000.00 for that purpose. .After much discussion and consideration the Council agreed to issue Liens in the above amount provided that the County Commissioners would accept them without recourse. Upon motiom by Councilman ~atford, seconded by Councilman Nix and carried, the Clerk was instructed to write a letter to Belcher Oil Company statLng that the City had agreed to dssue the liens. The need of repair of other streets was discussed and ~.t was agreed that the Street Com~_t~tee with aid from S. H. Mc Dougald work up a proposed project and present to the Counc~ for further discussion.
