The City Council of the City of.0keechobee, Florida, met in regular session
at the City Hall at 7:30 P. M. on the abcve date ~itk t~ following present: Mayor H.
H. Raulerson, President Z. K. Williams, Councilmen Brette, Chandler, Thomas and
~ ~ratford with G. C. Durrance, City Attorney, Lorena Pearce, City Clerk, C. A. Thomas,
Chief of Police and M. ~. Kinsaul, Water Superintendent.
Minutes of th~ meeting held December 6 and 9 were read and approved as read.
The following bills were approved and ordered paid when funds are available:

Mr. Hosea, General Manager of Inter County Tel and Tel Co. was present in
~ regard to the franchise given to the City for consideration. A Petition filed with
' the Clerk was presented and read as,lfollows:

Florida Railroad and Public Utilities Commission, Tallahassee, Fla.
Gentlemen:We, the undersigned customers and patrons of 0keechobee
Telephon~ Office, hereby request that you refuse to renew the
Franchise to the present owners and operators of the 0keechobee
[ Telephon~ Office until such time as we can be assured of better
I service. The service in the past has been very poor and very
unsatisfactory, and unless the present owners and operators
improve ~he service we suggest that stops be taken to secure
other and better servie.
~ The abov~ petition was signed by 41 customers and patrons of
! 0keechobee Telephone Office.
After having ~iscussed the matter Councilman Watford moved that action on
t the franchise be tabled for further discussion. Motion seconded by Councilman
I Thomas and carried
I Councilman Brette moved that the City pay the bill rendered by the 0kee-
chobee News' with the d~duction of $50.00 for 1948 City Occupational license. Motion
seconded by Councilman Chandler and carried.
