The City Council of the City of 0keechobee, Florida, met in regular session
at the City Hall at 7.:30 P. M. on the above date with the following present: Mayor H H
i Raulerson, President Z. K. Will~ams, Councilmen Dalton Brette and R. E. Chandler with
Lorena Pearce, City Clerk.

Mr. Hosea, General Manager of the Inter County Tel and Tel Company from Ft.
~yers, was present and presented the °ouncil a Franchiae for consideration. After
having expla;ined and discussed several sections of the Franchise to the Council, Mr.
Hosea requested that the Attorney mail to him a written opinion of the Francblse before
the next regular meeting of the Council at which time the Council will take action.
C. A. Thomas, Chief of Police, reported to the Council the need of speed limit
signs. After consideration the Council agreed to have new stgns:~: p~-lnted at once.
Also the need for a new traffic light or repair on the old one was brought before the
Council but no de2inite action was taken.
Upon motion by .Councilman Brette, seconded by Co~mcilman Chandler and carried,
the Couhcil agreed to offer the Federal Works Agency of Atlanta, Georgia, $67.46 for the
165 gallon Ts~- Kettle that the above agency had lea~ed the City of Okeechobee for re-
pairing the streets.
The matter of a request from the School for the City to grant peNmission to
use the tennis court for a basket ball co~rt was heard and ~i~e~ss~d. After which
Chandler, seconded by Co~mc~lman Brette and carried, ~oved that the City grant the
' above request.
Building permits for the City of Okeechobee was discussed and upon ~otion by
Councilman Chandler seconded by Councilman Brette and carried, ,it was agreed that all
applications for permits be presented by the City Clerk to the Council for approval.
Permit fee will then be set by the Council and Clerk instructed to issue De~mlt or de-
cline same. It was also agreed by the Council that the City Clerk be given a set fee
of twenty-five cents (25~) for each pe~it issued.
A motion by Councilman Chandler to barricade that part of old ~ounty road
crossing 1st Street at intersection of Miami Street also lsb Street at entrance of
Kissimmee.Street. Motion seconded by Co~:ncilman Brette and. carried.
Upon motion the Council adjourned to meet Thursday, December,9, 1948.

The City Comr~cil of the City Of Okeechobee, Florida, met in regular adjourned
session at the City Hall on the above d~te at 7:30 P. M. With the following present:

and Alto '~atford with G. C. Durrance City Attorney and Lorena Pearce, City Clerk.
President ~'illiams announced that the Coungil would proceed to canvass the
~etunns.L~of the General City Election held December 7, 1948.' After so doing Councilman
Watford presented the ~ollowing Resolution and moved its adoption. Upon being duly
seconded Resolution wa~ unanimously adopted:

~EREAS, The City Council of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, sitt-
ing as a board of canvassers, has convassed the returns of the
General Cit2 Election held December ~, 1948, and
V~EREAS~ H. H. Raulerson received the highest number of votes for
Mayor, and M. M. Martin, Sr., Roderick E. Chandler, Bruce Mc
DougA~d, Thomas H. Nix and Alto Watford, received the highest
number of v~tes for .Coun~i~en, and Carlisle A. Thomas received
the highest~number of votes for Chief of Police, and Lorena Pearce
received the highest number of votes for City Clerk.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that H. H. Raulerson. be, and he is
hereby declared elected Mayor, that M. M. Martin, S~., Roderick'E.
