The City Coun$il of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, met in regular session
at.the City Hall at 8:05 P. M. on the above date with the following present: Mayor H. H.
Raulerson, Councilmen B~ette, Chandler and Watford with G. C. Durrance, City Attorney
and Lorena Pearce, City,Clerk.
Due ,to the absnsence of the President and Pro-Tem President Councilman Watford
was appointed acting chairman.
Minutes of tbs meeting held September 7, 1948 were read and approved and read.

A representive from the Rotary Club appeared before the Council and req~sested
the City to donate $100'00 toward the repairing of the tennis court. After discussion
the Councilman Brette meved that the City donate $100.00 for the purpose of repairing
the tennis court. Motien seconded by Councilman Chandler and carried.
Mr. Yates ap~$ared before the Council and discussed with the Council the milk
situation. He was inf~Ened that no definite~-had been taken in prohibiting the sale of
raw milk within the cor~oarte limits of the City of 0keech~bee.
P. P. Eavans ~ppeared in behalf of J. E. Cone requesting information on
occupational license fo~ furniture dealers. The Council informed Mr. Evans that there
was no ordinance prohib~.ting funitu~e dealers from taking orders and making deliveries~
within Corporate limits of the City of 0keechobee.
Fred Boromei in behalf of the V. F. W. and American L~gion appeared and re-
quested that the City h~p in purchasing a monument for the men killed in action from
our county, said monument to be erected in the city park. It was de~eided~that the
above organizations fo~ a committee and with the assistance of Councilman Watford and
Mayor Raulerson work ou~ definite plans and the City weuld help in every way possible.
U~n motion by Gouncilman Brette, seconded by Councilman Chandler and carried
the following budget fo~ the year 1949 was unanimously adopted.

ORDINANCE N0. ~ ~ ~
AN 0~DINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE LEVY AND COLLECTI~N OF TAXES FOR
THE~AR 19A8 FCR THE CITY OF 0KEECHOBEE, FLORIDA.
BE I~ ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY C0I~NCIL OF THE CITY OF
0EE~HO BEE, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1. That the City of 0keech~bee, Florida, hereby levies
a ta~ of 23 mills on each dollar valuation of real and personal
property within corporate limits of the City of 0kee¢? oboe, Florida,
for ~he year 1948; such taxes shall be assessed and collected in the
manor provided by law, PROVIDED HOWE~ER, that taxes shall be assessed
against homesteads, having valuations of not more than $5,000.00, for
the General Fund of said City.
SECT~0N 2. That 8 mills of such tax shall be used for General City
pur~ses and shall be assessed for the General Fund of said City.
That~15 mills of such tax shall be assessed for the interest and
sinking fund for the payment of interest and principal of General
RefUnding Bonds, Issue of 1942, of said City.
SECT~0N 3. It shall be the ~uty of the Tax Collector of said City
and %he City Clerk, to divide the proceeds received from said taxes
as aforesaid, into the funds set out in Section 1 of this Ordinance and
keep full and correct account of the same as they may be directed by
the City Council.
SEC~0N 4. Ail ordinances, or parts of.ordinances in conflict here-~
with be, and the same are hereby repealed.
SECTION 5. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect upon
its passage by the City Council and approval by the Mayor.

The Council agreed, that the Water Superintendent and City Clerk would re-
ceive an extra weeks pay, due to the fact that they were unable to take their vacation.
Upon motion the Council adjourned.
