Joe Bongiovarm~i reappeared before the Council and requested that the Council
reconsider his liquor store location and issue license. The Council stated that no
reconsideration wou~ be made.
A bill for d~agline work was presented and upon motion by Councilman Brette,
seconded by Councilman Chandler and carried the Council agreed to pay Howard Drawdy for
239 hours ~ $8.00 per hour, total of $1,912.00.
The taxi and punch board situation was discussed. Attorney Durrance presented
taxi permits to be issUed to taxi drivers. A motion was made by Councilman Brette to
withdraw license fee f~om Ordinance number 229 but remainder of Ordinance to remain in
full effect. Motion seconded by Councilman Chandler and carried.

Vacations for the City employees was discussed and upon motion by Councilman
Brette, seconded by Councilman Chandler and carried it was agreed to give to t he regular
employees a weeks vacation with pay.

The Council i~structed the Chief of Police to obaain list of owners of all
outdoor toilets being used in the city and to give names to City Clerk, who was in-
structed to mite letters to the owners advising them that the toilets must be removed

A motion by Councilman Brette to credit city taxes for rent of Morise Thomas
lots being uSed by the city. Seconded by Coun~lman Chandler and carried.

The City Council of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, met in regular session
at the City ~11 at 8:00 P. M. on the above date with the following present: Mayor
H. H. Ra~erson, President Z. K. Williams, Councilmen Dalton Brette, R. ~. Chandler,
B. W. Thomas and Alto Watford, with G. C. Durrance, City Attorney and Lorena Pearce
City Clerk.
Mir~ites of the meeting held July 5, 1948 were read and approved and read.
The outdoor tei~et situation was discussed and the Clerk reported that the
names had bee~ obtained and letters written to same.
Upom motion by Councilman Chandler, seconded by Councilman Brette and carried
the Council agreed to credit Morise Thomas for City Taxes and Water Bills for the rent
of lots being used by the City.
Deliquent water bills were discussed, after which the Council instructed the
Water Superintendent to cut off all water consumers that were two months deliquent.
The need of blankets and matt~esees for the Jail was'discussed. The ~resident
referred the ~atter to the Mayor and Fire Chief.
A report that two of the City Spped Limit Signs that were placed at the City
limit lines had been removed. It was beleived that the State Road Department could
give information as the whereabouts, due to the f act, that t he State Road Department
had placed city limit signs near the ones that the city had put up. Mayor RaLLlerson
was requested to call Mr Mather in Fort Pierce and ask if he could give any information
on the signs.
Coumcilman Watford reported that the Odd Fellow Organization had requested
that their per, nit for the building on Parrott Avenue be issued. After consideration
Councilman Themes moved that the permit be issued. Motion seconded by Councilman
Brette and carried.
Tha~ Carlton appeared before the Council in behalf of Joe Bongiovanni~ and
discussed with the Council the matter of Joe Bongiovanni package store. The Council
informed Mr. Garlton that the distance between the proposed location of the package
store was insmffieicent as r~quired by Ordinance. --
