Boyles appeared before the Council in behalf of the Farmer's Market Association, requesting that the Council to amend Resolution closing the streets in Block 84, 88 and 88, the location of the Farmer's Market, amendment to read - ALSO ALLEYS IN ABOVE BLOCKS 54,55 AND 56. Councilman Watford moved that the amendment be made and to e~ter the amendment on t he original Resolution. Motion seconded by Council- men Brette amd carried. Cou~ci~men Watford presented the following Resolution and moved its adoption, and upon being seconded by Councilman Chandler was put to a vote and unanimously adopted: / Resoluti on WHEREAS the City Tax Assessor assessed municipal taxes against Lots 9 and 10 of Block 10 of Riverside Park Sub-division and, whereas, by legislative act enacted in 1928, the said property was excluded from the municipal limits of the City of Okeechobee and assessments for the years 1938 to 1940 inclusive are invalid. NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved that such taxes be and the same are hereby cancelled 'of recOrd and of no further effect. PASSED AND ADOPTED in regular session this June 7, A. D. Allen Markham appeared before the Council, representing the Boy Scouts of America, requesting that the City make a donation to the Boy Scouts. Upon motion by Councilman W~tford, seconded by Councilman Brette and carried, the Council agreed to donate $25.00 to the Boy Scouts of America. All~n Markham stated that the Chamber of Commerce had requested that he bring before ~he Council the matter of zoning and building permits, requesting that the Ordinance ~e~Alatlng these be revised. After discussion the Council suggested that the Chamber of Commerce present their suggestions as to a revised Ordinance and ~he Council would give d~e consideration and cooperation. T. H. Nix appeared before the Council in behalf of the Odd Fellow Organization, requesting that the Council issue pernit for 30 x 80 building being obstructed by the Organization on Parrott Avenue. Mar~y Schul~an representing the Woman's Club appeared and requested the Council to deny permit, due to the fact, that some misunderstanding regarding the title to t he property ~hat the Odd Fellows were building on. After discussion the Council agreed the not to issue permit for the building until the property title was cleared. O. J. Price appeared and requested relief in the drainage ditch adjoining his property. The Council assured Mr. Price that when the road was completed that t he drainage problem would be relieved. A. ~. Smith was present and discussed with the Council the possibility of 17 8 appointing a plumber i~pector. No definite action was taken. Joe Bongiovara~i reappeared before the Council and requested that the Council reconsider his liquor ~ore location and issue license. The Council stated that no reconsideration w~ul~ ~ made. 1"~ A bill for d~gline work was presented and upon motion by Councilman Brette, seconded by Councilman Chandler and carried the Council agreed to pay Howard Drawdy for 239 hours ~ $8.00 per ~u~, total of $1,912.00. The taxi and Punch board situation was discussed. Attorney Durrance presented taxi permits to be isstted to taxi drivers. A motion was made by Councilman Brette to withdraw license fee fx*om Ordinance number 229 but remainder of Ordinance to remain in full effect. Motion seconded by Councilman Chandler and carried.
