REGULAR MEETING
TUESDAY, JULY 5,1983
The Planning Board/Board of Adjustments and Appeals met in regular session on
Tuesday, July 5, 1983, at 7:00 P.M., in the Council Room at City Hall in Okeechobee.
Members present were: Jim Wright, Brenda O'Connor and Frank Altobello.
Members James Kirk and Darrell Ferneau were absent.
Others present were: Building and Zoning Administrator, Mallette Westbrook;
City Attorney, David Conlon; and secretary Beatrice Castorina.
BOARD OF ADJUSTMENTS AND APPEALS
Member Altobello called the Board of Adjustments and Appeals into session.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
There being no additions or corrections to the minutes, member Wright moved to accept
the minutes of the June 7, 1983, meeting as presented. Seconded by member 0' Connor.
Motion carried.
HAMRICK AND SONS - REQUEST FOR SPECIAL EXCEPTION
Due to the absence of Mr. Hamrick, his request for special exception was postponed
until he could be present to answer questions.
BILL AND DIANE HUSTON - REQUEST FOR VARIANCE
Bill and Diane Huston appeared before the board to request a variance on lots 4,5,6,
7,14,15,16, and 17, Block 9, Northwest Addition to Okeechobee, which would allow a Truck
Parts and Repair Shop to be built next to the alley. Mr Huston stated his business is
repairing semi-tractor and trailers and the additional room is needed to enable the
vehicles to go through the building and around it.
Attorney Conlon advised the board he handled the fore-closure proceedings on the
property and he had an indirect conflick of interest, but it did not effect the variance.
There were no abjections by the board members.

he would rework the variance and rezoning application and present them to the board at
the next meeting, for their approval.
MALLETTE WESTBROOK
Mr. Westbrook called attention to the Cardinal Industries material, the board members
received. He stated it was manufactured houses and asked if the board members would be
interested in going and touring the sight. Member Altobello suggested the matter be tabled
until the entire board was present. The board agreed.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business to come before the board, member Wright moved to
adjourn. Seconded by member O'Connor. Meeting adjourned.
