The Planning Board/Board of Adjustments and Appeals of the City of Okeechobee, Florida,
convened in regular session in the Council Chambers at City Hall, Okeechobee, on Tuesday,
October 6, 1981, at 7:00 P.M..
Members Darrell Fe rne au , James Kirk, Jim Wright, Frank Altobello and Chainnan Dale
Burk were present.
Others present were: Mallette Westbrook, Building and Zoning Administrator; David
Conlon, Attorney; Beatrice Castorina, Secretary.

BOARD OF ADJUSTMENTS AND APPEALS
Chairman Burk called the Board of Adjustments and Appeals into session.
APPROVAL OF HINUTES
Member Fe me au moved to approve the minutes of September 1, 1981, as presented,
seconded by member Wright. Vote unanimous.
CHARLES AND MYRNA FARMER - REQUES'll-'FOR SPECIAL EXCEPTION
Burton O. Conners appeared before the Board, representing Charles and 1'I.(Yrna Fanner, to
request a special exception for an Automobile Wrecking Yard. After discussion the Board
told Mr. Conners that the request could not be granted as a special exception and he 'WOuld
have to reapply for an Appeal of the Building and Zoning Administrator's decision.
FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH
Jack Coker, representing the First Baptist Church appeared before the Board to request
a Variance for a 25 ft. setback in order to add to the existing Clulrch.
The Board went over the findings for a varinace. There were no objection voiced.
Member Altobello moved to grant the request for a Variance, seconded by memÐer Wright.
Vote unanimous.
UNITED FEED CO-OP. INC.
Bill Stratton, Jr. appeared before the Board, representing United Feed Co-op, Inc.,
to request a Variance for a setback of 15' feet.
The Board went over the findings for a variance. There were no objections voiced.
Member Wright moved to grant the Variance request with the stipulation of a 6 foot chain
fence installed at the west side of the property, seconded by member A1tobello.
Mr Butler and Mr. Rucks of United Feed Co-op was in the audience and told the Board they
did not feel the need for the fence to be in the motion because they had future plans of fencing
in the whole property. Member Wright withdrew his motion. :Member Wright then moved to grant
the variance with no stipulation on fencing, seconded by member Altobello. Vote unanimous.
ADJOURNMENT
Member Altobello moved to adjourn the Board of Adjustments and Appeals, seconded by
member Ferneau. Vote unanimous.

Lois Wadlington, representing Mr and Mrs Williams, appeared before the Board to request

money was in the budget and could bring in a consultant for study, also for the Board to study
and make recommendations to the council.
