REGULAR MEETING TUESDAY,JUNE 2, 1981
The Planning Board and Board of Adjustments and Appeals of the City of Okeechobee,
Florida, covened in its Regular meeting in the Council Chambers, at City Hall, Okeechobee,
on Tuesday, June 2, 1981, at 7:00 P.M..
Members Frank Altobello, Dale Burk, Darrell Ferneau and Jim Wright were present.
James Kirk was absent.
Others present were: Mallette Westbrook, Building and Zoning Administrator;
Beatrice Lowe, Secretary; Mary Dunn, assistant to City Attorney.
BOARD OF ADJUSTMENTS AND APPEALS
Chairman Burk called the Board of Adjustments and Appeals to order.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Member Altobello moved to table the approval of the minutes until the next meeting,
seconded by member Wright. Members Wright, Ferneau, Altobello and chairman Burk voted
yes. James Kirk was absent.
There being no business in the Board of Adjustments and Appeals, member Wright moved
to adjourn, seconded by member Ferneau. Members Wright, Ferneau, Altobello and chairman
Burk voted yes. Member Kirk was absent. Vote carried.
PLANNING BOARD
Chairman Burk called the Planning Board into session.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Member Wright moved to table approval of the minutes until the next regular meeting,
seconded by member Altobello. Members Ferneau, Wright, Altobello and Chairman Burk voted
yes. Member Kirk was absent. Vote carried.
L.M.TAYLOR - REQUEST FOR REZONING
Phil BErger appeared before the board to request a rezoning of property from
Residential to Industrial, to build condominium warehouses, for L.M. Taylor.
Phil Berger told the Board L.M. Taylor would dedicate a right of way to the City
property if granted the rezoning.
Lester Jennings, an adjoining property owner, appeared before the Board and told them
he would like to see the rezoning granted. He would a~so, give the City a right of way
through his property, to get to the City,s property, if the board would grant the request
for Mr. Taylor.

Ben Dixon and June Holt, adjoining property owners objected to the request.
After discussion, Mr. Berger told the Board, he would withdraw this request and
reapply for a Commercial rezoning.
Member Wright moved to table this request to the July meeting, seconded by member
Altobello. Members Wright, Ferneau, Altobello and Chairman Burk voted yes. Member Kirk
absent. Vote carried.
POSSIBLE NEED FOR AMENDMENT OF ORDINANCE REGARDING UNFENCED AND/OR UNFILLED BORROW
PITS AND SWIMMING POOLS
R.C. Fellows appeared before the board in regard to a complaint he had on excavation
and fill, where a resident had some property and wanted to create some usable property
and sometimes the excavation could effect drainage patterns.
Mallette Westbrook, Building Administrator, noted to the Board that the City had
a code for fencing swimming pools.
Chairman Burk asked R.C. Fellows to get a copy of the code from Orange Park on
excavation and/or filling.
There being no further business, member Wright moved to adjourn, seconded by
member Ferneau. Members Wright, Ferneau and Chairman Burk voted yes. Members Kirk and
Altobello were absent.
