1983-09-20 6 MINUTES OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE ENFORCEMENT BOARD CITY OF OKEECHOBEE t SEPTEMBER 20, 1983 Hearings of the municipal code board violations were held by the Okeechobee Municipal Code Enforcement Board in the Council Chambers t City Hall on Tuesday, September 20, 1983. Chairman Jeffers called the meeting to order at 7:30 Chairman Jeffers asked secretary Castorina to call t with the following results: Cecilia Miller - Present Deara Thompson - Present Michael McArthur - Present Lloyd Jeffers - Present Blair Kuhlewind - Present Jerry WAlker - Present Vangela McFarland - Absent - unexcused Others present were: Acting Code Enforcement Officer, Ke th Tomey; Attorney, David Conlon; Secretary, Beatrice Castorina. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Chairman Jeffers asked if everyone had received the inutes of July 19, 1983 and August 16, 1983, meetings. He stated if the board have fund the minutes correct and had no questions, the chair would entertain a motion, the minutes stand approve as presented. Member McArthur so moved. Seconded by member Kuhlewind. Motion carried. PRESENTATION OF CASES Chairman Jeffers asked acting Code Enforcement Offic r to present his cases. DISMISSAL OF CASES Mr Tomey request the following cases be dismissed be ause all are in compliance. 80-83 River Bend Mobile Home Sales 82-83 Jerald & Glenda Acheson 83-83 Tom H. & Emma Doyle 90-83 Magic Mirror Beauty Salon 95-83 Marilyn Ballo 98-83 Evelyn Frady Member Thompson moved to dismiss the cases listed a ve. Seconded by Member Miller. Motion carried. Cases dismissed. CASES TO BE HEARD 85-83 SunCoast Air Conditioning Failure to pull a permit for a job Keith Tomey stated Suncoast Air Conditioning put air-conditioning in the house located at 912 S.W. 7th Avenue and didn't pull a permit. Mr Tomey Sun coast Air Conditioning sent $20.00 to go before the Competency board, but they show up for the meeting. He further stated the business would have to come before Competency Board before they could be licensed, and they would need a license before t could get a permit. Discussion ensued. Member McArthur moved to induce a fine of $40.00 for ot getting a permit. Member t Thompson seconded. After discussion member McArthur to $60.00 dollars for the fine. Seconded by member Thompson. carried. The motion was opposed by Cecilia Miller. ~ j 86-83 A & B Used Furniture Junked appliances on premises. Mr. Tomey advised the board the appliances were stil on the outside of the premises. Discussion ensued. Attorney Conlon advised the board, th owner should also be notified e on the cases. Member Walker moved to notify the real pro erty owner of A & B Used Furniture Case #86-83 of Junked applainces on his property, the fac that we have already notified his tenant of this and notify both of them, they are in v olation of Code of Ordinance #411. Seconded by member McArthur. Motion carried. 91-83 Suncoast Heating and Cooling Working in the City without an occupational 1 cense. After discussion member McArthur moved to postpone c se 91-83 until Mr. Westbrook could be there and give more information on the case befo e the board made a decision on the matter. Seconded by member Miller. Motion carried. Case 91-83 continued until next meeting. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business to come before the ard, Chairman Jeffers moved to adjourn. Seconded by member Miller. Meeting adjourned.
