MINUTES OF THE
MUNICIPAL CODE ENFORCEMENT BOARD
CITY OF OKEECHOBEE
AUGUST 9, 1982
Hearings of the municipal code violations were held b the Okeechobee Municipal -
Code Enforcement Board in Council Chambers on Monday, Augu t 9, 1982. Vice Chairman,
Lloyd Jeffers, called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M.
Vice Chairman Jeffers asked the Secretary to please c 11 the roll with the following
results:
Michael McArthur - Present
Deara Thompson - Present
Lloyd Jeffers - Present
Gordon Leggett - Absent
Blair Kuhlewind - Present
Jerry Walker - Present
Vangela McFarland - Present
Others present were: Code Enforcement Officer, Malle te Westbrook; City Attorney,
David Conlon; and Secretary, Ruth Berndt.
Attorney Conlon asked if Mr. Leggett's absence is an pproved one and was informed it
is. He then stated the records should show an approved ab for Gordon Leggett.
Vice Chairman Jeffers then welcomed Vangela McFarland after having a new baby.
He also introduced two new members, Blair Kuhlewind and De ra Thompson, and welcomed them
to the Board.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Vice Chairman Jeffers asked for a motion on the minut s of the July 12, 1982 meeting.
Member McArthur moved to accept the minutes as presented. Seconded by Member Walker.
Motion carried.
CASES TO BE DISMISSED:
Mr. Westbrook requested the following cases to be dis issed:
44-82 Gladys Lowe
95-82 Everetts Automotive Repair
133-82 Bessie Mae Bronson
138-82 Walter Hiler
140-82 Norris Shafer
135-82 Melody Music
136-82 Riner Bros., Inc.
134-82 Perry Arnold
Vice Chairman Jeffers asked for a motion on these cas s. Member McFarland moved to
dismiss the cases as listed above. Seconded by Member McA thur. Motion carried.
CASES TO BE CONTINUED:
Mr. Westbrook requested the following cases be contin ed:
105-82 Ralph N. and Nancy L. Bork
137-82 Johnny Mack Kinsaul
139- 82 Lee Bailey
130-82 Roy S. Dove
Member McArthur moved to continue the cases as list a ove. Seconded by Member
Walker. Motion carried.
ELECTION OF OFFICERS
Vice Chairman Jeffers stated nominations were open fo Chairman. Member McArthur -
nominated Gordon Leggett. Seconded by Members Walker and hompson. There were, no other
nominations. Unanimous vote "Yea". Gordon Leggett, Chair an.

Nominations opened for Vice Chairman. Member McArthu nominated Lloyd Jeffers as
Vice Chairman. Seconded by Member Walker. There were no ther nominations. All members
voted "Yea", with Lloyd Jeffers abstaining. Motion carrie · Lloyd Jeffers, Vice Chairman.
Member McArthur wanted to know why the envelopes cont ining the minutes, etc. could
e not be delivered sooner. He stated he received his at 6:0 o'clock tonight before the
meeting.
Secretary Berndt stated she had given the envelopes t the police department early
Friday morning.
Mr. Westbrook stated that the police were perhaps bus , so he will see the envelopes
are delivered from now on.
Member Walker requested the addresses be listed on th case list with the names.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business before the Board, Mem er Walker moved to adjourn.
Seconded by Member McArthur. Meeting adjourned at 7:15 P. ·
