1957-06-04 Regular510 It was agreed by the Council that each Department Head would be responsible for the distribution of gas to the equipment in his department and said person will be required to keep records of sa~ae. Councilman .~mnandler moved that the City grant to each ~mployee that had ~ been employed one year or more a two weeks paid vacation, seconded by Co~cilman Gardner and carried. ~e Co~cil authorized the purchase of needed culvert. Co~cilman Gardner moved to pay $~.00 per week for man to be employed by the Street ~d Sanitary D~partment in lieu of $0~.00 per week. Seconded by Co~cilman Chandler and carried. Supt. Williams was requested to investigate a request for a c~b on South Park Street in front of the Western A~to. George Reynolds, Director of the Chamber of Commerce was present and dis- cussed the progress, change of plans and problems regarding the swimming pool. The water line extension t o the swimming pool was discussed afterwhich Councilman Chandler moved to furnish water to the swimming pool, filling of pool not to exceed twice a year, seconded by Councilman. Pearce and carried. Water Supt. Kinsaul stated a request from Paul Hood for a water line ex- tension to his property in Block 241. Kinsaul reported that it would require approx- imately 225 feet of pipe for the extension. After discussion Councilman Walker moved to make the requested extension and that the two adjoining property owners be contacted as to whether they wanted city water, if so, the city would install large enough line to take care of all, if not, extend a sufficient size pipe to Hood property, seconded by Councilman Chandler and carried. Robert L. Wagner, representative of Leedy, Wheeler and Aller~an Bonding Com- pany, stated that nine ~mt~ of 0keechobee I & S RefundinM Bonds could be purchased at 80~ and accured interest. After consideration Councilm~n Chandler moved to accept offer as stated, seconded by Councilman '~ardner and carried. Robert L. Wagner, representative of Leedy, ~neeler and Alleman and Rolland A. Sharp of Sharp and Associates were present discussing the progress being made on financing of the sewer and water extension program. Councilman Gardner moved to accept the supplemental proposal from Leedy, Wheeler and Alleman, seconded by Councilman Pearce and carried. Councilman Chandler moved to appoint President Jesse R. Warlord to represent the City in matters concerning the Federal Grant and financing of sewer program, seconded by Councilman Gardner and carried. Councilman Chandler presented the following Resolution and moved its adoption amd upon being seconded by Councilman Gardner was put to a vote and unanimously adopted: R E S 0 L U T ~ 0 N ~iE[~EAS, the Sur[~eon General of the Public Health Service, has ~ ~ Florida, a Federal Grant not to offered the City of 0Leec/~obee, ~ exceed SVl,160.00, to assist in financing the construction of a secondary sewage treatment plant etc., under project No. WPC-Fla-2, and, ~'~£qE~EAS, the said City of 0keec~bee, Florida, desires to accept said grant, therefore, in consideration thereof, Be it resolved by the Co~n~cil of the City of 0keecbobee, Florida, the ~,~ayor and said City concurring, that Jesse R. Audley Dunham ?/.~tYOR President Warlord appointed as a co~mnittee the entire council to contact F. E. Wilcox regarding a disposal plant site and secrete definite co~aittment on land site and cost. Councilman Gardner discussed a pipe pusher machine for the water department. A motion was made by ]ouncilman Gardner, seconded by Cotu~cilman Chandler and carried, to purchase said machine at an approximate cost of ~150.00. Councilman Gardner moved to purchase 80 feet of 2' metal culvert seconded by Councilman Walker and carried. R. L. Dowling of Dowling Appraisal Company was tmesent discussing an offer to appraise the new additions on the 1957 Tax Roll. The Council after discussion post- poned action for further consideration advising fir. Dow!ing to present his contract at --~ next regular meeting of Council. Councilman Pearce presented the following Ordinance and moved its adoption and upon being seconded by Councilman Chandler was put to a vote and unanimously adopted: ORDINANCE NO. Audley Dunham ~,'~AYOR Councilman Walker presented the following Resolution and moved its adoption and upon being seconded by Councilman Chandler was put to a vote and unanimously adopted: RESOLUTION VK{EiIEAS, Nartha Joiner has made application to this Council to authorize the Tax Collector of the City of 0keechobee to cancel all city taxes heretofore levied against the property hereinafter described for the years 19S5 to 1940 inclusive for the reason that said lands were excluded from the municipality by Chapter 10960, Laws of Florida, Acts of 1925, and V~HEi~EAS, said taxes which have been assessed for the years 19~5 ~o 1940 inclusive constitute a cloud upon said property and this Council having given due consideration to said application, NOI~, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Tax Collector of the City of 0keechobee be and she is hereby authorized and instructed to cancel all unpaid taxes and tax certificates issued for the yea~s 1925 to 1940 inclusive, or any of such years, and make proper notation on the tax rolls of said city to clear the following described lands of said taxes: Lots 10, ll, 12, 13, 14 and 15, Block C, 0keechobee Development Company Addition, as recorded in the public records of 0keechobee County, Florida. Councilman Gardner moved to increase the salary of the Assistant Clerk to $~B.00 in lieu of $~8.00 per week, seconded by Councilman Chandler and carried. Upon motion the Council adjourned.
