The City Council of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, met in regular session at the City Hall
on the above date at 7:00 P. M. with the following present: Mayor Protempore and President Mc Crocklin~
Councilmen Gardner, Hunt, Walker and Watford with Attorney ttendry and Clerk Spivey.
Minutes of the meeting held October 5, 1965 were read and approved as read.

City of OkeechobSe - Water & Sewer Operation & Maintenance Fund $15,000.00
Supt. Williams r~ported a request from Aqua Aire Motel owner to open alley behind motel.

This would require ~ 20 felt lenght of 18 inch culvert. After discussion/agreed to install culvert
providing motel owner purchases same
Also a request for a 20 foot 12 inch culvert at the Church of Prophecy on 16~ Street and
one 2h foot 18 inch culvert at Seven Day Advent Church on 12th Street was reported by Supt. Williams.
Councilman Gardner moved tt purchase and install the above culverts for the Churches seconded by Council-
man Watford and carried.
Mrs. W. H. Smi%h and Mrs. Lee Henderson representing American Legion Auxiliary was present re-
questing permission from t~e City to repair and improve the playground equipment located in Park east
of Chamber of Commerce building as a project for the Auxiliary.. Councilman Watford moved to grant re-
quest and authorize the i~Irican Legion Auxiliary to repair and improve the playground equi~ent as a
civic project seconded by Councilman Gardner and carried.
Mrs. Gordon Bass and Mrs. Swope appeared before the Council requestin~ permission to open
snack bar and recreation r®om for teenagers at the building formerly known of "Thomas Packing Company"
stating their tenative pla~S as to remodeling. The Council advised that the property would have to be
rezoned and advised the above named persons to submit a signed petition from adjoining property owners
in that area signifing their approval or objection and present to the City Council November 23, 1965.
Supt. Fortner reported the need of two chairs for water and sewer plant. Councilman Walker
moved to authorize the purchase of two used chairs at $25.00 each seconded by Councilman Hunt and carried.

Supt. Fortner reported several complaints on meter readings. The Council instructed Supt.
Fortner to check out these .meters.
The construction of the Church sign directory was discussed. Councilman Hunt suggeste4 that
the sign be built providin~ all Churches participate. It was agreed to contact the Ministerial Associa-
tion requesting that all 'c~urches be contacted on this matter and report back to the Council as to how
many ch~che~ will par.titillate.
Upon recommendation of t~e Chairman of the Police Department, Councilman Walker moved to employ
Charles Seland as policeman on a six months trial basis at $~25.00 per month seconded by Councilman
Gardner and carried.
Councilman Watfo~d discussed the need and purchase of a new police car. After discussion
Councilman Watford moved t~ advertize for bids on police car, said bids to be opened on December 7, 196~
and delivery after January l, 1966, seconded by Councilman Walker and carried.

NOTICE is hsreby given that the City Council of the' City of Okeechobee, Florida,
will receive sea~d bids for the purchase of the following:
I Special 'P~lice Car, ~ door, heater, tinted glass, turn signal, back-up
lights, sdp% light, automatic transmission at leas~ 60 AMP, low cut in
alternator, 15 inch wheels, minimun of 360 HP engine, tan with white top,
power brakes, power steering and padded dash, Federal Blue light mounted,
serial no. ~P16BS, model no. 17.
Delivery da~e after January 1, 1966~
Trade in allowance on 1963 Dynamic 88 Oldsmobile, k door, model no. 3269.
Said bids vrill be opened in the Council Chamber at the City Hall in Okeechobee~
Florida, at 7:OO'P. M. December 7, 1965. The Council reserves' the right to reject
any and all bids,

Couueilman Watford stated the need of a typewriter for the Police Department office. The
Council authorized Councilman Watford to get prices on typewriter for November 23, meeting.
Attorney Hendry reported a meter reading complaint from V. F. Reeves. Supt. F~rtner
instructed to eheck meter ~ Reeves Barber Shop.
Letters of appreciation were read from the Okeechobee Memorial Post #6h and City of Kissimmee.

President Mc Crocklin reported a request for street lights from Principal Cline at location
behind Okeechobee High School and for Catholic Church on west 3rd Street. The Council felt the light
at the school'would be the school responsibility due to it being on the school grounds and agreed to
include the request from the 6atholic Church on the requested street light list.

The City Clerk presented the petitions of candidates in the Special City Election to be

Councilman Watford moved to accept .the petitions as presented, seconded by Councilman
