September 28, 1965, for~ the purpose of reviewing and equalizing the City Tax Assessment Roll for, the year 1965, as prepared by the City Tax Assessor. President Mc Crocklin announced that the Council would receive and consider objections to the valuations as fixed on said Tax Roll by the City Tax Assessor. No objections were received. J~ ORDINANCE NO. 271 - (39) ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 271, BEING AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING ZONINO REUI~ATIONS FOR THE CITY OF OKEECHOBEE, FLORIDA, AND PROVIDING FOR THE ADMIN- STRATION, ENFORCEMENT AND AMENDMENT TITEREOF PURSUANT TO THE PROVISIONS OF C~!~TER 176, FLORIDA ,STATUTES, 1953. WHEREAS, application has been made by J. A .Horton, requesting this Council to ' rezone f~Om residential (R-2) to COMMERCIAL Lots 3 and 4, Block 174, Original Town of Okeec~obee, and WHEreAS, notice of intention to amend City Zoning Ordinance No. 271 regarding said application was duly published according to law, and WHEREAS, on the 5th day of October, 1965, a public hearing was held in the City Council ~Oom pursuant to said notice, and WHEREAS, it is deemed to the best interest of the City of Okeechobee, to grant said application; now therefore CITY OF THE CITY OF OKEECHOBEE, FLORIDA: BE ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL SECTION 1. Nc New, representing the Ministerial Association was present discussing a sign to be used as a Church Directery requesting the City to furnish frame and erect same near the Chamber of Commerce building. After discussion Councilman Watford moved that ~the City donate frame and erect sign seconded by Councilman Walker and carried. Matter to be under the supervision of Building Inspector White. David B. Smith, Engineer representing the West Okeechobee Water Committee with a group of interest. ed persons was present discussing and requesting water service to their property in Southwest section of Okeechobee outside of City limits, but if the city was unable to make extension requested a letter stating that the City was ~nable to extend water service to said location. After discussion Councilman Watford moved seconded by $ouncilman Gardner and carried to instruct Attorney Hendry to write letter stating that the City was unable to extend water service to said section. Mr. Kear~es appeared before the Council requesting permission to place a trailer on property in in Okeechobee owneA by Brannon Williams at corner of Avenue A and Palmetto St., stating that he wanted to both use/trailer and house. Matter referred to Building Inspector White and to report at next meeting of Council Water Su~t. Fortner requested permission to install a 4" by pass meter on Okeechobee Beach Water Association pipe ia water plant as a safety measure, Council agreed that this was a good idea and agreed for installation of said meter. 978 ' A request for a wariance on the W½ of Lots 7 and 8, Block 2, South Okeechobee was presented to the Council. After discus~on Councilman Gardner moved to grant a variance on above property, seconded by Councilman Watford and unar~ously carried. ~.~ Councilman Walken moved to accept resignation of Wayne 0. Burk as policeman of the City of Okeechobee effective Octobe~ l, 196~, seconded by Councilman Gardner and unanimously carried. The Council agreed to give letter of recommendation if requested. Councilman Hunt ~sented the following Ordinance and moved its adoption and upon being seconded by Councilman Walker was p~rb to a vote and unanimously adopted: ORDINANCE NO. AN ORDINANCE PRO~IDING FOR THE LEVY AND COLLECTION OF TAXES FOR THE YEAR 196~ FOR THE CITY OF OKEECHOB~, FLORIDA. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OKEECHOBEE, FLORIDA: SECTION 1. That the City of Okeechobee, Florida, hereby levies a tax of 20 mills on each dollar valuation of real personal property within the corporate limits of the City of Okeechobe~, Florida, for the year 196~; such taxes shall be assessed and collected in the ~anner provided by law, PROVIDED HOWEVER, that no taxes shall be assessed against ~omestead, having a valuation of not more than $5,000.00 for the General Fund of aid City. SECTION 2. That ~ mills of suoh tax be used for General City purposes and shall be assessed for the ~eneral Fund of said City. That 6 mills of such tax shall be assessed for the interest and sinking fund for the paymen~ of interest and principal of General · efunding Bonds, Issue of 19~2, oT said City. SECTION 3. It s~l be the duty of the Tax Collector of said City and the City Clerk of said City, to divide the proceeds received from said taxes as aforesaid, into the funds set out in ~ection I of this Ordinance and keep full and correct account of same as they may be d~cted by the City Council. SECTION h. All ~inances, or parts of Ordinances, in conflict herewith be, and the same are hereby ~pealed. SECTION ~. This ~rdinance shall be in full force and effect upon its passage by the City Council and approval by the Mayor. PASSED and ADOPT~ in regolar session this 5th day of October, A. D. 196~.
