M. with the following present: Mayor Mack, President Mc Crocklin, Councilmen Gardner, Hunt, '~lker and Watford with Attorney Hendry and Clerk Spivey. Councilman Watford moved, seconded by Councilman Gardner and carried that a temporary license be issued when application for rezoning is submitted, subject to decision on rezoning property. NOTICE OF INTENTION TO AMEND CITY ZONING ORDINANCE #271 ~ NOTICE is hereby given that the City Council of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, a municipal corporation, will consider rezoning from Residential (R-2) to Commercial and to amend accordingly the Comprehensive Zonin~ Ordinance #271 adopted November 21, 1955, the following described real propensity, situate, lying and being within the core, rate limits of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, to-wit: Lots 3 and 4, Block 174, Original Town of Okeechobee and that a public hearing in relation thereto will be held at 7:00 P. Clayton White Water Supt. Fortner presented prices on chemicals from two companies. The Council agreed to wait until the hurricane season is over to purchase a large quanity of chemicals. Councilman Walker reported a request from the Garden Club for the installation of water in island in front of telephone office between South Park and 7th Street. Councilman Gardner moved, seconded by Councilman Walker ~d carried to install water spigot in island at above location. 974 Councilman Walker, also reported a request from Mr. Weisenberg for a water line extension to his proposed subdivision i~'~northeast section outside city limits, being approximately 1,500 feet from nearest water main. The cOUncil agreed that the City was in no position at this time to make extension. Councilman Hunt ~ported that the big fire truck needed repair and recommended that the truck be taken to the Ford Garage'to determine exactly the repairs needed. The Council agreed for this to be don~ Councilman Hunt moved to approve Garbage Franchise subject to execution of contract seconded by Councilman Gardner and u~animously carried. Mayor Mack discu~ed bonds on six Auxiliary Policemen and requested permission to bond six additional Auxiliary Policemen. No definte action taken. Upon motion the ~uncil adjourned to meet Tuesday, September 28, 1965 at 5:15 P. M. with the following present: President Mc Crocklin, Councilmen Gardner, Hunt, Walker and k~tford with Clerk Spivey. A lebter of resignation from Mayor Mack was read to the Council. Said resignation to become effective October 1, 1965. Councilman Gardner moved to accept the'~ resignation of Donald R.. MaCk .as 'Mayor of the City of Okeechobee, ~ffective/ October l, 1965, seconded b~ Councilman Walker and unanimously carried. Due to the e~pansion of my business and the pressing need of time. Along with the increased retirement of time involved with the Mayors owice~ the demands of both interest far~ exceeds the amount of available time. I don't feel that I am able to perform ~e duties of that office as it should' be. Therefore i~ the best interest of the people~ please tender my resignation effective October 1, 1965. Mack Councilman Hunt moved to hold a Special Election to elect a Mayor on November 30, 1965, to open the Registration Book November I and close November 11$, 1965 with qualifing date November I thru November l~, 1965, seconded by Councilman Gardner and unanimously carried. Names for several unnamed streets was discussed. Councilman Warlord moved to designate the South city limit street, sC~ th of Royal Oak Street as "Hazellief Street"; street East of Main Street in Okeechobee Heights as '~4ilee Road and north and south alley west of Central Avenue in Evans Subdivision as "Thomas Street", seconde~ by Councilman Gardner and unanimously car~,-ied. Councilman Gardher moved to grant Wayne O. Burk two weeks severance pay seconded by Council- man Watford and carried. Pursuant to ~otice published in the Okeechobee News the Council sat as a Board of Equalizers.
