The City Council of the C~.ty of Okeechobee, Florida met in recessed session at the City
Hall on the above date at 6:30 P. M. with the follo~ing present: President Donald L. Burk,
Councilmen: Charles L. Breland, Edward W. Douglas and E. H. Hunt with Deputy Clerk Sandra Bennett,
Director of ~ublic ~orks L. C. Fortner, Jr.& Building Official Richard B. Spray.
President Burk read a letter from Ralph A. Diggs, Superintendent of Board of Public
Instruction advising that the School Board had indicated that it might possibly be interested in
making the property known as the "Old High School Football Field" available to the city or county
for non-permanent recreation facilities and if the city is interested contact him for further
consideration. President Burk ordered the letter filed.
President Burk reported that Fire Chief Godwin had been having considerable trouble with
the 19~9 fire truck. The Council agreed for Chief Godwin to order necessary parts for repairs and
President Burk requested the Council to consider the purchase of a new pump.
Bill Tomlinson, President of the Board of Adjustments and Appeals was present as requested
by the Council regarding his term of appointment on the Board which had expired. The Council asked
Mr. Tomlinson if at their next meeting he would request the Board to make recommendations for the
Council to choose from. The Council agreed that the next appointee's term on the Board would be
in accordance with the Southern Standard Buildin~ Code rules and regulations.
Tave Waldron, owner of L. P. Sanitation was present as requested by Building Official
Spray ir regards to complaints of garbage piled up at Top's Bar and Parrott Lounge. The Council
requested Building Off%cial Spray to investigate matter.
Building Official Spray reported on violations in the agreement made one year ago by Mrs.
Everrett at the Betty's Bar property. Matter to be taken up with Attorney Curren.
The Council discussed at lenght the possibility of purchasing bulk gas and installing
tank and pump at the city barn.for city vehicles. Councilman Hunt reported that it would be
cheaper. The Council agreed that it would be more practical for the police department to continue
purchasing gas from service stations as high test gas is used. Director Fortner said he thought
that the city had a pump they had used before and that he would check into it. The Council agreed
that Dir. Fortner prepare notice to advertize for bids in the Okeechobee News, so that, the system
will be in order the first of year.

NOTICE OF LETTING - INVITATION TO BID
Sealed bids will be received by the City Council of the City of 0keechobee,
Florida, at City Hall, until ?:00 o'clock, P. M., December 7, 1972 at which
time the bids duly submitted will be opened and read, for the purchase of
the following items for the fiscal year beginning January l, 1973 and ending
December BI, 1973.
Regular Gas with octane rating of 93.~ or better.
High Test Gas with octane rating of approximately 100.
Diesel Fuel #2.
Series 3 Motor Oil in single grades of 30 wt. in ~5 gal. lots,
which meets or exceeds all the requirements of the following
manufacturer specifications:
Gear oils for API Service GL-5 in SAg grades 90 and lbO in 120
lb. drums.
Lithium Soap multipurpose grease which meets or exceed NLGI grade
2 in tubes and 38 lb. pails.
Ail items to be delivered to the City Barn as needed during the year.
The City of Okeechobee reserves the right to reject any or all bids or to
accept the proposal deemed most advantageous to the City.

Dir. Fortner reported that the Independent Baptist Church had requested permission to
install a sign at intersection of Osceola Street and State Road 70 near the Okeechobee County
Bank sign. The Council agreed provided the sign was not to big and did not cause a traffic hazzard.
Councilman Hunt moved to purchase a new air conditioner for the police department office
seconded by Councilman Douglas and carried.
The Council advised Attorney Curren to write and request an extension on date to file
Local Government Financial Questionaire and Report Form, 1972 from Department of Administration.
