The City Council of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, met in recessed session at 6:30 P. M.
on the above date at the City Hall with the following present: President Donald L. Burk, Councilmen:
Charles L. Breland, Russell V. Domer, Edward W. Douglas and E. H. Hunt with Clerk Lorena Spivey and
Director of Public Works L. C. Fortner, Jr.
The Council continued preliminary work on 1972 General Budget.
Councilman Domer moved to increase the General Fund millage one mill making a total of
7 mills for General Fund and 3 mills for Debt Service Fund, presenting the following Ordinance and
moved its adoption and upon being seconded by Councilman Douglas was put to a vote and unanimously
adopted.
ORDINANCE NO. ~
AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE LEVY AND COLLECTION OF TAXES
FOR THE YEAR 1972 FOR THE CITY OF OKEECHOBEE, FLORIDA.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF OKEECHOBEE, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1. That the City of Okeechobee, Florida, hereby levies a
tax of 10 mills on each dollar valuation of real and personal property
within the corporate limits of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, for the
year 1972; such taxes shall be assessed and collected in the manner provided
by law, PROVIDED HOWEVER, that no taxes shall be assessed against homesteads,
having a valuation of not more than $5,000.00 for the General Fund of said City.
SECTION 2. That 7 mills of such tax be used for General City purposes and
shall be assessed for the General Fund of said City. That 3 mills of such tax
shall be assessed for the Interest and Sinking Fund for the payment of interest
and principal of General Obligation Refunding Bonds, Issue of 1971, of said City.
SECTION 3. It shall be the duty of the Tax Collector of said City and the
City Clerk of said City, to divide the proceeds received from said taxes as
aforesaid, into the funds set out in Section i of this Ordinance and keep full
and correct account of same as they may be directed by the City Council.
SECTION 4. All ordinances, or parts of Ordinances, in conflict herewith
be, and the same are hereby repealed.
SECTION 5. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect upon its
passage by the City Council and approval by the Mayor.

Councilman Domer reported the need of wheel alignment on Dog Warden Truck. The Council
authorized the truck to be taken to Gilbert Chevrolet Company for wheel alignment.
The Council instructed the Clerk to request Charles A. Royal to attend September 12th
regular Council meeting in regards to letter received from him in relation to water meter and water
situation at Royal's Shopping Center.
Upon motion the Council adjoured.

The City Council of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, met in regular session at the City
Hall on the above date at 7:00 P. M. with the following present: President Donald L. Burk, Council-
men: Charles L. Breland, Russell V. Domer, Edward W. Douglas and E. H. Hunt with Attorney J. Edward
Curren, Clerk Lorena Spivey, Deputy Clerk Sandra Bennett and Director of Public Works L. C. Fortner, J~.
President Burk opened the meeting with prayer.
Pursuant to notice published in the Okeechobee News regarding a public hearing to consider
rezoning from Residential (R-2) to Commercial Lots 7 to 12 inclusive, Block 140, Original Town of
Okeechobee, President Burk asked if there were any objections to the requested rezoning. No
objection was heard or filed. Councilman Douglas moved to rezone the above described property
from Residential (R-2) to Commercial, presenting the following Ordinance and moved its adoption
and upon being seconded by Councilman Domer was put to a vote and unanimously adopted:
ORDINANCE NO. 271 - (77)
ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 271, BEING AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING
ZONING REGULATIONS FOR THE CITY OF OKEECHOBEE, FLORIDA, AND PROVIDING
FOR THE ADMINISTRATION, ENFORCEMENT AND AMENDMENT THEREOF PURSUANT TO
~THE PROVISIONS OF CHAPTER 176, FLORIDA STATUTES, 1953.
WHEREAS, application has been made by Ralph N. Harper, President of Okeechobee
County Bank, requesting this Council to rezone from Residential (R-2) to Commercial
Lots 7 to 12 inclusive, Block 140, Original Town of Okeechobee, and
WHEREAS, notice of intention to amend City Zoning Ordinance No. 271, regard-
ing said application was duly published according to law, and
WHEREAS, on the 12th day of September, 1972, a public hearing was held in
the City Council room pursuant to said notice, and
WHEREAS, it is deemed to the best interest of the City of Okeechobee to
grant said application; now therefore
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OKEECHOBEE, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1. That Lots 7 to 12 inclusive, Block 140, Original Town of
Okeechobee, be and are hereby rezoned from Residential (R-2) to Commercial,
effective September 12, 1972.
SECTION 2. That the application requesting rezoning and proof of
publication to amend Zoning Ordinance No. 271 published in connection with the
above application be attached to this Ordinance and become a part hereof.
SECTION 3. That the City Clerk make the appropriate change on the City
