The Citt' Council of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, met in recessed workshop session at
6:30 P. M. on the above d~!~e at the City Hall with the following present: President Donald L. Burk,
CouncilSen: Charles L. Breland, ~ussell V. Domer, Edward ;~. Douglas, and E. H. Hunt with Attorney
J. Edward Curren, City Clerk Lore~ Spivey, Director of ~blic ~'~orks L. C. Fortner, Jr. and Building

Buildin~ Official Spray reported a vacancy on the Board of Adjustment and Appeals and
recommenSed the appointment of local contractor Joe L. Lawson. ~ter consideration the Council
unanimously a~eed to appoint Joe L. Lawson as member of the Board of ~justment and Appeals to fill
the unexpired term of James E. Ha~mnd. The terms of office of the Board was discussed and referred
to workshop session.
A workshop session was set for September ~th at 6:30 P. M. for discussion and stu~ of the

Southern Standard Housing and a~: Codes.
Councilman Domer reported that the pu~ on pumper fire truck had gone bad and a new one
would cost approxi~tely $[~30.00. After discussion Councilman Domer moved to purchase new pu~
seconded by~o~nc~ ~ ' ~ Lmar~ Do.0slas ant carried.
Councilman BPelsud reported that Sgt. Archie Hancock had resigned and this made the police
department two men short, ;~tating that Ray Stone had mdc application for policeman and requested
consideration of said appl~cation. Councilman Breland also ad~sed that a Police School starts Sept.
[th and that Stone could possibly attend this session, providing he had returned from ~acation.
Councilman Breland also ad~sed that L~ ~bley former policeman had filed app~cation for
re-e~!o~ent. ~e Council u~mously a~eed on the re-e~lo~ent of Mobley. Council~n Breland
recommended that L~ry Mobley be e~loyed as policeman, being certifie~ at $6,500.00 per year and
R~y Stone be e~loyed as police~n a~ $6,000.00 per year, reco~endation was una~monsly approved
by the Council. Attorney Curren ad~sed that the Police Standard Council be ad~sed i~ediately.

A request was maie by the owner of a recently conde~ed building for pe~ission to burn

plan of sewe~ survey.
Pr~:~ident Burk reported on meetin!~ with Department of rranoportatzon in Fort Lauderdale
in regards to right of way for water line south on State Road hhl and by-pass at intersection of
Riverview Drive and State Road 70.
The Clerk reported a request from Charles Royal for a letter from the City accepting the
maintenance on lift station at Riverwiew Drive. Director Fortner adxrised that the corrections and
improvements had been completed. President Burk agreed to notify Mr. Royal that the Engineer had
ad~-ised that all necessary corrections and improvements had been completed and that the city would
officially accept the lift station and maintenance thereof at the regular meeting September 12th.
Attorney Curren requested to prepare Resolution as requested by James Attaway regarding
closing of a portion of Fourteenth Street located north of and adjacent to Block gT, a portion of
Tallahassee Street between Blocks ~6 and ~7 and a portion of alleyway located between west boundary
of Lots 1 through 3 and east boundary of Lots 11 through 13, Block gT.
The Council authorized Building Official Spray to issue building permit to Alfred Watterson.
The Council recessed to meet in workshop session on August ~).~1972 at 6:30 P. M.

The City Council of the City of Okeechobee, Florida met in recessed workshop session at
6:30 P. M. on the above date at the City Hall with the following present: President Donald L. Burk,
Councilmen: Charles L. Breland, Russell V. Domer, Edward W. Douglas and E. H. Hunt with City Clerk
Lorena Spivey and Director of Public Works L. C. Fortner, Jr.
Preliminary work on 1973 General Budget was accomplished by the Council.
The Clerk advised the Council of a pre-planning meeting on sewer program was to be held
September 5, 1972 at 9:00 A. M. at Farmers Home Administration office.
The Council ratified the Mayor's continuing authority to e~ecute contract on Water Plant
Improvements.
The Council recessed to meet in workshop session September 5~ 1972 at 6:30 p. M.
