1972-08-10 Recessed Building Official Spray reported that Herbert Nix was doing trailer repair at his property
on Northeast Park Street. The Council advised Building Official Spray to notify Mr. Nix that this
must be temporary and suggested Official Spray keep this matter under surveillance.

The City Council of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, met in recessed session at 6:30 P. M.
on the above date at the City Hall with the following present: President Donald L. Burk, Councilmen:
Charles L. Breland, Russell V. Domer, Edward W. Douglas and E. H. Hunt with Attorney J. Edward Curren
and City Clerk Lorena Spivey.
Elli Mills and Mosely Collins were present in regards to water project to Oak Lake
Development. It was agreed by the Council and Petitioner to install 2 - 2 inch at $355.00 each,
2 - 2 inch meter deposits on each meter $170.00 ($3~O.00), minimum charge to all units as occupied,
one time occupied the minimum charge will continue, both meters to be read and reading combined and
charged accordingly on regular rate. Notification of occupancy shall be made by McArthur Properties
and shall be subject to verification by the City. A"Memorandum of Understanding" was presented for
approval. The Council recommended several changes and after a lenghty discussion Councilman Hunt
moved to accept the "Memorandum of Understanding" subject to the Council's recommended changes,
seconded by Councilman Domer and unanimously carried.
The request from Harry B. Elliott as noted in August 8th minutes, to open recreation hall
on Sunday from 2:00 P. M. to lO:OO P. M. was discussed. Afterwhich the Council agreed unanimously
to the enforcement of Ordinance prohibiting the operation' of any pool or billiard parlor to be
operated on Sunday.
County Commissioner Jack Williamson appeared before the Council reporting that the County
had entered into an agreement with firm of Kendree and Shepherd Planning Consultants for a comprehensive
study and planning program available to OkeechobeeCounty under Federal Assistance Program (701 Disaster'
Funds). Due to the recent disaster Okeechobee County is eligible for 75 per cent with HUD providing
this amount and the County contributing twenty-five per cent. Also Commissioner Williamson stated
that the comp'].led information and anticipated projection would benefit in problems of growth and
prepare for ti~e anticipated need for services such as water, sewer, utilities, highways and maps for
~.onin~. Pres[.dent Burk expressed his appreciation to Co,remission ~illiamson for presenting this in-
formation to the Council and commended the Board of County Commissioners for their foresightedness.
