The City Council of the~ City of Okeechobee, Okeechobee, Florida, met in regular session at the
City Hall on the ~bove date at 7:00 P. M. with the following present: Mayor Mack, President Mc Crocklin,
Councilmen Gardner, Hunt, Walker and Watford with Attorney Hendry and Clerk Spivey.
Minutes of the meetings? held May 4 and 25, 1965 were read and approved as read.

The matter of rezc~ing Lots 1,2, 3, 4, 5 and 6, Block 2, South Okeechobee from Residential (R-i)
to Commercial havin4~ been ~t~ned on May 25, 1965 was open for discussion. Lester Jennings, Attorney
representing the owner, Eug~e M. Cone, was presemt speaking in behalf of the rezoning. Wilson Selph was
present objecting to the ab~ze rezoning. A letter was read from Fred W. Selph objecting to the above re-
zoning. After discussion C~Ulcilman Gardner moved to deny the request to rezone Lots l, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6
Block 2, South Okeechobee f~Om, Residential (R-l) to commercial, seconded by Councilman Walker. The

James ~ representing McAlpin and Hem, Certified Public Accountants, empleyed as auditors
for the City of 0~echobee was present presenting the 1964 City audits and discusse~ several recommendations
as set forth in the audit.
Don Oshe~, representing Brockway, Weber and Brockway Engineering Firm, was present presenting and
~ discussing a surve~ on water matters as requested by the Council.
Robert ~lson appeared before the Council again requesting permission to place ~a trailer on
property behind SoUthern Oil Station located on north 441 on a six months basis. T~e Council advised ·
Nelson that his request had been denied May 25, due to Ordinance governing trailers and it was the con-
sences of the CourtS, il that the same decision would have to remain. After discussion Councilman Hunt
recommmnde~ that t*e trailer Ordinance be discussed at next workshop meeting of the Council.

Attorney Hendry read and explained the/Garbage Franchise. Joe Dixon representing All Service
Refuse, Incorporated was pr~ent regarding the franchise and requested the Council to adopt Ordinance
governing the size of garba~$~ containers and to prohibit burning of trash in the city. After discussion
Councilman Gardner moved to accept the Garbage Franchise with Ail Service Refuse, Incorporated, subject to
minor changes and execution of said franchise seconded by Councilman Hunt and unanimously carried. The
Council agreed to discuss t~ burning of trash and size of garbage containers at workshop meeting June 15.
Fire Chief Olen Godwin stated that Calvin Arnold had agreed to releive him for one weeks vacation.
The Council agreed for hLm ~o take a week's vacation and to pay the relief man salary as in previous years.
The Council autho~zed City Employees vacations the same as in 1964.
The disposal of o~ fire siren tower post was discussed. Councilman Hunt moved to sell them to
Hendry and White for $2.00 ~ach seconded by Councilman Watford and unanimously carried.
Councilman Walker stated that some of the old Jail bars could be used at sewer plant for guard
rails. The Council agreed for this to be done and all of the baIance not used to be stored at sewer plant.
A rezoning application was received from John B. Longworth requesting that the following described
property be rezoned from Re~dential (R-I) to Residential (R-2): Begin 158.7 ft. North of the S. E. Corner
of the N. E. ¼ of the S. W. ~i of the S. W. ¼ Section 21 Township 37S Range 35E for PCB: Run West 140 feet
thence run North at right a~le 50 ft., thence run East at right angle 140 ft. thence run South at right
angle 50 ft. to PCB. The ~uncil authorized a notice of public hearing be published.
