Brothers Apartment Building on ~est Seventh Street and ~atford's hhl Oulf Service Station on north
Parrott Avenue. The Council a~reed to discuss matter further at workshop meeting. Also Building
Official SpraM discussed the need of the adoption of the Southern Standard Gas Code, stating gas
insta].lations were be~,ng made without re,gulations to abide by. The Council authorized the purchase

of five copies of Southerr Standard Gas Code for study and referred matter to workshop meeting.
Recently Buildin~ Official Spray had requested an increase in weekly expense allowance, due
to additional duties. The Council had been studying request and Presiden+, Burk recommended an
additional $10.00 per week expense allowance. Councilman Breland moved to increase Building Official
weekly expense allowance $~0.00, seconded by Councilman Domer and carried.
Attorney Curren reported information he had received attending Conference in Tallahassee
regarding the distribution of Revenue Sharing Funds ProGram. Stating a Municipal Report. had to be
~led with the Department of Revenue by June 1, 1972 in order for the city to receive entitlement
in Revenue-Sharing funds, placing emphasis on item No. 2 on report form - Law Enforcement Officers.
A~.torney, ~ . Ourren advised the need of a Resolution to comply with Police Minimum Standards. The Council
authorized Attorney Ourren to draft Resolution and to present law governing this matter on Law
Enforcement Officers at the next meeting.
President, Burk requested Engineer Don Sheppard of BrockwaF~Owen and Anderson Engineers~ Inc.

Councilman Domer, Chairman of Fire Committee reported a request from Fire Chief Oleo Godwin
to attend the Fireman's Convention May 2h thru 27 at Sarasota. Chief Godwin being an officer in
the association, Councilman Domer recommended he be authorized to attend~ with the understanding
that Chief C~odwin provides a relief fireman. Councilman Domer moved to authorize Chief Godwin to
attend the above convention as recommended above, seconded by Councilman Breland and carried.
Councilman Domer reported the need of the following Fire Department equipment:

Councilman Domer reported that Mrs. Beatrice Fullick~ local photo~apher, who appeared

a license, had called him and asked what action the Council had taken on this matter. The Council
agreed for Attorney Curren to research the State Law governin~ this matter and referred same to

Councilman Domer moved to authorize Rock-A-~ay, Inc. to remove the curb and make a drive-
way just. south of present ~ire station driveway, so that vehicles using south drive will not have to
eDter into fire station driveway to exit from City Hall area, with LaGrow Irrigation Systems, Inc.
paying for the portion that is to be replaced due to construction of water line and the City paying
the difference, seconded by Councilman Breland and carried.
Councilman Breland moved that the Chief of Police be appointed by the Council instead of
elected and instructed Attorney Curren to prepare proper Ordinance seconded by Councilman Domer
and carried. Councilman Douglas abstained.
Councilman Doug]as reported that Mrs. Daniel's had contacted him again regarding the
requested on~ hour parkin? signs for Daniel' s Building. The City has been waiting authorization
from the Department of Transportation to install +_,he signs but 'to date the Department of Transportation
has not responded to request. President Bark reported several items the City was waiting for
clarification from the Departmen~ of Tran_~portation such as the above signs, right of way on south
S. R. #hhl and si:?nal lights. President Burk recommended that the Water Committee draft a letter to
Mr. Arnold Ramos, Distric± En~ineer, Department of Transportation in regards to the right of way on
south S. R. #hhl due to the City needing information on this in reference to replacing water main,
also suggested a letter from Farmers Home Adminstration might be benifical. President Burk agreed
to wri±~e to +_~he Department. again. Director Fortner agreed to write again regarding the one hour
