The City Council of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, met in regular session at the City Hall
~.. on the above date at 7:00 P. M. with 'the following present: President Mc Crocklin, Councilmen Gardner,
Hunt, Walker and ~atford with Attorney Hendry and Clerk Spivey.
Minutes of the meetimg held January 5, 1965 were read and approved as read.
The following bills in the amount of $ 6~758.19 and $ 7,402.12 were apprcved and
ordered paid when funds are available:

for the purchase of 1 - one ~ton pickup truck from the following:

Okeechobee Motor ~mpany 2,558.37
After consideration Council~ Walker moved to accept Okeechobee Motor Company bid in the amount cf
$2,558.37 for truck, second~ by Councilman Gardner and unanimously carried.
Pursuant to notic~ published in The Okeechobee News-Mirror bids were received, opened and read
for the purchase of Police ~ar from the following:
Okeechobee Motor ~mpany (Ford) $1,895.10
Okeechobee Motor~mpany (Mercury) 1,922.65
Gilbert Culbreth (Oldsmobile) 2,685.00
After consideration Councilman Watford m~ved to accept bid from Okeechobee Motor Company in~ the amount of
$1,922.65 for Mercury, seconded bY Councilman Gardner and unanimously carried. The Council authorized a
change of color for Police ~ar upon request of Chief Thomas.
Supt. Williams stSted that he had used the Fire Department 1½ inch hose at Sewer Plant making a
shortage in Fire Department, The Council agreed to investigate matter.
The Council authorized repair on street department Chevrolet pickup truck.
Councilma~ Gardne~ reported a complaint from property owners in Wilcox Shores regarding the
noise from the lumber used Sn bridge adjoining Wilcox Shores and Okeechobee Estates Subdivision. Councilmar
Gardner moved to have bridg$ black topped by Harry Getchell at a cost of $95.76, seconded by Councilman
Watford and unamimously carried.
The Council authorized ~ culvert for east alley in Block 88.
Councilman Walker stated that three prices on filing cabinets had been receive~ and lowest price
being from Halsey and Griff~th, Inc. After discussion and consideration Councilman Walker moved to purchase
two (2) four drawer filing Cabinets at $77.06 each, from Halsey & Griff~th, Inc. ~fe~ water plant and sewer
plant seconded by Councilm~. Gardner and unanimously carried.
The Council authorized sxpense (per diem add meals) tc be paid to Supt. L. C. Fortner, Jr. for
trips to nearby sewer p!an~ for ~educatio~al purposes..
The Council authorized ~upt. Fortner to make routine or minor purchases for sewer plant.
Councilman Hunt r~ported a complaint regarding sparks from burning trash at Okeechobee Shell
Service Station threating a~joining property owners also a complaint was repsrted on trash burning at
Primary School. Matter referred to Councilman Watferd.for investigation.
President Mc Croc~in reported a complain re§arding chickens running at large. Matter referred
to Police Department.
The condition of ~ire siren tower discussed. Matter to be investigated by Council.
Upon motion the C~cil a~journed to meet February 16, 1965 at 5:15 P. M.
