1970-02-24 Regular Adjourned1200 Upon motion the Council adjourned to meet February. 2h, 1970~at 5:30 P. M. ½7 -- PRE~S~_DENT CITY COUNCIL February._ 2h, 1970 The City Council of the City of ()keechobee, Florida, met in regular adjourned session at the City Hall on the above date at 5:30 P. M. with the following present: President Gardner, Councilman Brelaud, Hunt ~Padgett and Walker with Attorney Curren and Clerk Spivey. Pursuant to not~ce oublished in the Okeechobee News regardinga public hearing to consider rezoning ~rom Residential (R-l) to Commercial, Lots h, 9 and 6, Block 2, South Okeechobee, President Gardner asked if the_~r we~-e any objections. No objection was heard or filed. Therefore, Councilman Padgett mo~zed to rezone the above described oroperty as requested, presenting the following Ordinance and moved its adoption and upon being seconded by Councilman Breland was put to a vote and unanimonsly adcpted: '~ T~' , _ (.~) ,,R~ .... Cone, Mrs. ~en C. Cone and ~se Marie Bonnel]., requesting this Council to rezone from ~sidential (R-l) to Co~ercial Lots h, 5 and 6, Block 2, South Okeechobee, a~ W~REAS, notice of intention to ~end City Zoning Ordinance No. 271, ~garding said application was d~y published according to law, and W~REAS, on the 2hth day of Feb~a~, 1970, a public hearing was held in the City Council rcom pursuant to said notice, and ~EREAS, it ~.s deemed to the best interest of the City of Okeechobee ~ gr~t said application; now therefore BE IT ORDAI~D BY THE CITY CO~CIL OF THE crrY OF OKEECHOBEE, ~ORIDA: SECTION 1. That Lots h, 5 and 6, Block 2, South Okeecho~e, be a~ a~ hereby rezoned from Residential (R-l) to Commercial effective Febn]a~ 2h, 1970. SECTION ~. That th~ application requesting ~zon~ng and oroof of publication to ~end Zoning Ordinance No. 271 oublished in co~ection with the above application be attached to this Ordinance and become a ~rt hereof. Audley Du~ ~YOR The Council discussed the bids on. 2 Ton Cab and Chassis (fire truck) and upon recommendation of Fire Chief Godwin, Councilman Hunt moved to accept the bid from the Okeechobee Motor Company Jn the amount of $6,O68.6~, seconded by Councilman Walker and unanimously carried. Wire Chief Godwin reported that the Assistant Fire Chief was scheduled to enter the National Cmard April 1st and requested permission to hire the relief fireman two weeks prior to April 1st in or, er to acquaint him with the duties. After discussion Councilman Hunt moved to grant request and to emolov new fireman two weeks prior to Assistant Fire. Chief Godwin's dep~ture ~or service. &ssistant Fire Chief Godwin will be away for a period of 120 days. A letter was Presented from R. W. Start, Jr., Regional Sanitary Engineer, relating to the cover over tee digester at sewer ~].ant, recommending that the floating cover^the digester be removed and digester be converted to aerobic operation. Snot. Fortner reported the Engineers requested a meeting with Council to discuss right of way for wate? main from water plant to water tank. The Council agreed to meet March 3, 1970 at 5:30 P.~. A letter was read from Curren Electric Company requesting that encorachments and obstructions be removed from alley in Block lA9, so that suppliers and employees could approach his business from the rear of the property by way of the alley. The Council referred matter to Clayton White, Building Official for investigation, Th~ Clerk stated the need of a photo-copier. Councilman Padgett moved to purchase 3M Photo- Copier Cot $300.00 from Ft. Pierce Typewriter Company, seconded by Councilman Breland and carried. A rezoning %pp!ication was received from E. C. Goolsby requesting the Council to rezone Lots 1, 2 and 3, Block ].60, Original Town of Okeechobee, from Residential (R-3) to Commercial. The Council authorized the publication of notice on public hearing. NOTICE OF INTENTION TO ~MEND CITY ZONING ORDINANCE #271 NOTICE is hereby given that the City Council of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, a municipal corporation, will consider rezoninK from Residential (R-3) to Commercial and to amend accordingly the Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance #271 adopted November 21, 19~, the following described real property, situate, lying and being within the corporate limits of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, to-w~t: Lots l, 2 and 3, Block 160, Origdnal Town of Okeechobee ~nd that a public hearing in relation thereto will be held at 8:00 P.
