The City Council of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, met in regular adjourned session at the
City Hall on the above date at ~:30 P. M. with the following present: Councilmen Breland, Hunt,
Padgett and Walker with Clerk Spivey.
In the absence of President Gardner, President Pro-Tem Hunt presided over meeting.
Pursuant to notice published in Okeechobee News the Council sat as a Board of Equalizers.
NOTICE
NOTICE IS HERE~Y GIVEN that the City Council of the City of Okeechobee, Florida,
will meet in the Council Chamber of the City Hall at 5:30 P. M. September 23, 1969,
for the purpose of reviewing and equalizing the City Tax Assessment Roll for the
year 1969, as prepared by the City Tax Assessor.
ANY AND ALL PERSONS having any objections to the valuation placed on their property
by the City Tax Assessor, as shown by the Assessment Roll, are hereby notified to
file their objections with the City Clerk or to appear in person before the City
Council at said meeting on the aforesaid date.

The City Tax Assessor presented the City Tax Roll for the year 1969 for review and equalization,
Pres. Pro-Tem Hunt announced that the Council would receive and consider objections to the valuations
as fixed on said 'Fax Roll by the City Tax Assessor. No objections were heard or filed. After
discussionC~ ov~nc~!man' Padgett moved that the City Tax Assessment Roll for the year 1969 as prepared
by the City Tax Assessor be accepted and said roll returned to the City Tax Assessor for completion
seconded by Councilman Walker and unanimously carried.
CounciLman Walker presented the following Ordinance and moved its adoption and upon being seconde~
by Councilman Breland was out to a vote and unanimously adopted:

FOR THE CITY OF OKEECI{OBEE, FLORI!)A.
BE IT C. RDAt~ED ?'f T,~ MAYOR AND THE CITYCOL~oIL
SECTION 1. That the City of Okeechobee,Florida,' hereby levies a tax of 7 mills on
each dollar valuatior~ of real and personal Droperty within the coroorate limits of the
City of Okeechobee, Florida, for the year 1969~ such taxes shall be assessed and collected
in the manner provided by law, P. ROVIDED HOWEVER, that no taxes shall be assessed against
homesteads, having a ~;aluation of not more than $~,000.O0 for the General Fund of said
City.

SECTIOM 2. That ~ mills of such tax be used for General City purposes and
shall b~ assessed for the General F~md of said City. That 2 mills of such tax
be asse.~sed for th~ interest and sinking fund for the payment of interest and
principal of General Refunding Bonds, Issue of 19~2, of said City.
SECTION 3. It shall be the ~ty of the Tax Collector of said City and the
City Clerk of said City, to divide the proceeds received from said taxes as
aforesaid, into the funds set out in Section 1 of this Ordinance and keep full
and cor~'ect account of same as they may be directed by the City Council.
SECTION 1~. Ail ord~inances., or oarts of Ordinances, in conflict herewith be,
and they are hereby repealed.
SECTION ~. Th~s Ordinance shall be i~ full force and effect upon its passage
by the !~ity Council and aporoval by the Mayor.
