Minutes of the meeting held July 8, 1969 were read and approved as read. Abe Council agreed to advertize for public hearing. James Godwin, Assistant Fire Chief reported that the Forest Service Fire Truck was ready for ~nspection by the Council. The Council recessed for ten minutes to inspect the truck. The Council reco~,vened, discussing the truck and lease agreement, . agreeing it was a good offer, afterwhich Council- man 14unt moved that the City accept the truck as offered by Forest Service and authorize proper Officials to execute Agreement, seconded by Councilman Padgett and unanimously carried. South and 25 feet West of the Northeast Corner cf Government Lot 2, Section 22, Township 37 South, Range 35 East, thence run ~;outh, parallel to the East bo~mdary of Government Lot 2 aforesaid, 210 feet, thence West 1OO feet, thence North 210 feet, thence East 100 feet to the point of beginning; President Gardner asked if their were any objections, no objection was heard or filed, therefore, Councilman Breland moved to rezone the above described property from Agricultural to Commercial, presenting the following Ordinance and moved its adoption and upon being seconded by Councilman Hunt was put to a vote and nnan~ imously adopted: ORDINANCE NO. 271 - (54) ©~DINANCE ~J~NDING ORDINANCE NO. 271, BEINC ~N ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING ZONING ~GULATIONS FOR THE CITY OF OKEECHOBEE, FLORID&, AND PROVIDING FOR THE ADMIN- STRATION, ENFORCEMENT AND AMENDM~NT THEREOF PURSUANT TO THE PROVISIO~ ©? CHAPTER 176, FLORIDA STATUTES, 1953. W~REAS, application has been made by Julian Leggett, requesting this Council to rezone from Agricultural to Commercial, Beg. 100 ft. South and 25 feet West of the North- east Corner of Government Lot 2, Section 22, Township 37 South, Range 35 East, thence rnn South, parallel to the East boundary of Government Lot 2 aforesaid, 210 feet, thence West 1OO feet, thence North 210 feet, thence East 100 feet to the point of beginning, and WHEREAS, notice of intention to amend City Zoning Ordinance No. 271, regarding said application was duly published according to law, and WHEREAS, on the 5th day of August, 1969, a public hearing was held in the City Conn¢i! room pursuant to said notice, and ~.{EREAS, it is deemed to the best interest of the City of Okeecbobee to grant said application; now therefore BE IT ORDAINED BY TH~ CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OKEECHOBEE, FLORIDA: SECTION 1. I 1170 James Godwin, Assistant Fire Chief presented the following orices on lawn mower for City Hall Grounds as requested by Council: 1. Domer's Machine Shop 1. High Wheel, h HP 21" cut $170.00 2 Tear Drop, 3½ HP, lever height adjustmen~ 21" cut $100.00 3~ h wheel mower, 3½ HP 21" cut $70.OO Discount of 10~ on any of the above mowers 2. Gilbert's Parrotb Tire & Appliance Store 1. Snapper Push Mower 18" cut, $85.h5 with discount already deducted. After discussion Councilman Hunt moved to purchase h wheel mower, 3½~, 21" cut at $70.00 less 10% discount from Domer's Machine Shop, seconded by Councilman Padgett and unanimously carried. Chief Thomas reported the resignation of Policeman Lonnie S. Waldron and presented Jack Hill, recommending him to the Council to fill the vacancy. Upon recommendation of Chief Thomas, Councilman Breland moved to employ Jack }{ill as Policeman at $90.00 per week, to replace Waldron, seconded by Councilman Padgett and urianimously carried. Chief Thomas discussed with the Council the new State Law requiring $1.OO assessment fee on each convicticn, stating it was confusing to some of the persons involved. Matter to be worked out be- tween Mayor and Chief of Police. Supt. Fortner reported the need of a mower for water department, stating that Minton Equipment Company had offered to come over and demonstrate machine. The Council agreed to meet August 19th at ~:30 P. M. for demonstration. Supt. Williams reported the need of new motor for mowing machine, submitting the price of $57.50 for h HP B&S motor and $61.h5 plus 2.50 freight for ~ HP B & S motcr from Domer's Machine Shop. After consideration Councilman Padgett moved to purchase the ~ HP B & S motor at $61.h~ plus $2'~0 freight seconded by CounciLv, an Breland and unanimously carried. Councilman Hunt moved to accept 1968 city audit as prepared by Mc Alpin, Curtis and O'Haire certified public accountants and employ firm to prepare 1969 City Audit, seconded by Councilman Padgett and unanimously carried. Councilman Breland reported a street light request from Charles Stevenson on East hth Street, also reported was a request for street light in alley of Block 166. Both requests to be added to requested street light list, Mayor Dunham presented Model Ordinances on trucks and cattle within city limits. The Council requested Attorney Hendry to st~dy Ordinances and report. Street Supt. Williams was instructed to get prices on a new mowing machine and present at next regular meeting of the Council. The Clerk was instructed to call the Florida Power and Light Company in regards to the delay in installing poles for signal light at intersection Road 70 and Riverview Drive, requesting that the installation be made as soon as possible.
